Pay more for short summer cruise or less for fall longer cruise?

Thank all of you for your thoughts and opinions. We are leaning on the September cruise more so now. It would be later in September (school starts middle of August here) so he would be in school for at least a month before we went on vacation. I will definitely check with the schools policy and see how strict they are on attendance before we make any final decisions though. Thank you all again!

My son missed 5 days in 1st grade for an October WDW trip. It was the best trip we've ever taken with the low crowds at that time of year and I don't regret it.
They were Unexcused absences but his teacher was good about the whole thing. She gave us homework ahead of time so he was able to do a little each day instead of all at once when we got back. He did have a hard time the week he went back with some of the concepts, but caught up pretty quickly and ended up with all A's for the 9 weeks.

Fall: it's cheaper and less crowded! (And if you're creative, you can plan your trip for standardized testing season... then he/she wouldn't miss a thing!)

I wanted to ask opinions because while we have two kids we only have one school age right now so we are entering a whole new world with him. I'm definitely not going to regret spending time with them and making memories while we can. Thank you guys!
