My other half and i have a deluxe dining package booked coming up in three weeks. As part of that we get the refillable drink mugs. We are off coffee (finally and it wasnt easy!) and we dont drink soda at all (too much sugar and/or fake sweetners) So i really dont see us using the mugs at all. We plan on using our snack credits for bottled water.

So Disney care if we just pick out a family thats coming in the doors and give them our mugs to use for their stay instead of our stay?

It's not against the "rules" to do something nice for your fellow vacationers. Personally I think it's a lovely gesture and I'm sure you'll make someone very happy. :goodvibes

Edited to add: you will have already paid for those mugs anyway, so I can't imagine why Disney would care what you do with them.

Hmmm...

Cost of the refillable mugs...$12.95 each...............

impersonating the Dream Team by spreading some pixie dust.......priceless.

I'd say that you'll make some family extremely happy! I hope they are appropriately appreciative to you!

If you consider the mugs a Dining Plan entitlement, its against the rules.

We are not allowed to share DP entitlements with anyone not on our reservation and DP. Just the facts of the plan rules, not a value judgment.

I see no reason not to do it - it'd be different if you used them all your trip, washed them, and then passed them out.

We would never use them, either, and would pass them on to someone else.

We will be arriving the day after you....we will be on the lookout for generous mug giving people....LOL!:lmao: :cool1:

I think it has always said passing stuff on is "against the rules"... but when we had a kid get sick and had a huge amount of credits left our last day one trip we asked at Crystal Palace and the manager let us use our credits for 3 random families eating when we were .. we let her pick 2 of the groups we picked one who had kids similar in age to ours. it was awesome

I understand that it may be against the "unwritten rules" as far as the DP entitlements go, but how would any CM know if the other family had bought the mugs themselves or not?

It's not like I carried my receipt with me for the mugs I purchased on my last trip.

I would say go for it. Make someone's day that much brighter.

That's just it, the rule is written. That's not to say it is or isn't a nice gesture, but OP asked about the rules and the brochure shows the rules.

Well Bring It On The PIXIE DUSTpixiedust: pixiedust:yeah the pixie dust never hurt no-bod-eee!! pixiedust: If you want to give it, give it, Hey it is the year of a Million Dreams now you would be wrong if you used the mugs for a couple of days then washed them out and passed them on:) Would you be wrong if you gave your year of a million years luggage tag away,or would you be wrong to give whatever you got with your Planet Hollywood Voucher away,or would you be wrong if you got the schoolbread from Epcot and decided that you were full and new you just could not eat it, so you gave it to your mother who was staying at WDW same resort, but was not on the dinnig plan, come on we will have to call the WDW police::cop: yeah right, give those mugs away and make someone's day:sunny: and if you are in WDW on Sept 4th- 10th you can give them to me:)

When in doubt, ask Disney directly. No one here is in a good position to represent both sides of the issue, because none of us are responsible for Disney's bottom-line. Ask them and abide by what they tell you; it's their plan, their rules.

We have used snack credits on others standing in line with us many times when we are down to the last day and have some that we have to use or they will expire.

I don't know about the answer to your question, but the mugs make great souvenirs. Last time I was there, I bought myself one 'cause I liked it so much, even though I knew I wouldn't ever use it there 'cause I don't drink soda or coffee.

Yes, that's a good way to "pay it forward": As long as we're talking about specific item (and not a all-you-can... entitlement, like a buffet or refillable mug), effectively, I believe you surely should be able to get the item and then give it to someone else to eat. :thumbsup2

I say go for it! That's a really nice gesture.

It's one thing to give someone your KTTW and let them use something in your name, it's another to give them your mug..one that was never even used. How is that any different than going to the cash register, buying 5 mugs and going up and handing them to a family?

Have fun at Disney!!!!

Julie

Go for it! Make someone happy! You paid for the mugs and if you want to give them away than I think that is awesome. Disney is full of wonderful people!

What I would do is whatever my heart lead me to, if I wanted to give It I would give it, I do believe that you giving the Mugs away, is the least of WDW concerns, but I was confused:confused: when someone said it was ok to give a particular item but not a buffet or all you can eat entitlement, what’s the difference?I dont think that was mention in the dinning plan you can give a particular item but not an all you can eat or refillable mug, come on:confused3 Bottom line if you want to follow the rules then follow it in its entirety often we like to pick out what we think is ok,but if it is no sharing than that means no sharing:sad2: , so my question again is if I am traveling with my family that is not on the dinner plan and I am, and I go and get a sweet pretzel and decide that I just don’t want it, and my 4 yr old nephew who is not on the dinner plan loves pretzles, should I give it to him or should I say no little Cameron the rules are no sharing on the dinner plan, Auntie has to throw this away although I paid for it, way to teach sharing is caring;) but I do think that Disney means sharing when the intent is malicious pirate: , For instance if my family that did not purchase the dinner plan, but gave me half of the money and we agreed to share the snacks and I would give them my key to the world do some dinners and stuff like that,I think that's what WDW meant,I could be wrong but the lawyer in me sees no objections, lets not make a big issue over the mugs give them to whoever you want to and don’t think a second differently give them to whoever you want to make happy:yay: and for all those that are saying go by the rules make sure you don’t give that sweet pretzel, are that sip of your Dole Whip to your family member that is not on the Dinner Plan. For that Matter, what you do for all those unused snack credits that people go and buy from the disney stores all the prepackaged goods that travel well, when you get back home, dont give them away as souviners because again you would be sharing with those that were not on the dinnig plan nor were they even at WDW when you were there,Honey give the Mugs away and go on with your trip;) oh sorry for the font size!
