pay for wedding by gift card?

First time posting on Disboard. Planning to have an Escape wedding May 2011.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to pay for the wedding using Disney gift cards?? The reason I ask is that I can get cashback from my credit for buying gift cards at the grocery store. This would help soften the cost of the wedding if it was possible.

We must be thinking along the same lines, I thought it would be a great idea to pay for a portion of the wedding with gift cards but unfortunately we can not. I recently emailed the person handling my contract and this is what she wrote me when I asked about using gift cards...

The gift cards can be used during your stay either out at the parks and resorts when you purchase items and dine in restaurants…or when you go to pay for incidentals that were charged to the room at your hotel but not for the Escape package.

I'm sorry, you can't use them for the wedding but you could use them for things during your stay. My great-aunt knows I love Disney so she always gets me a Disney gift card. I have about $300 in gift cards and plan to use them during our stay there before the wedding!!!

It's too bad though I guess I'll just use gift cards to pay for the hotel room and incidentals.
