My DD will be barely 1 on our March trip. I am second thinking adding a "fake" person in the room, or just begging for them to charge me the DP for my DD under 3.. Tell me I am nuts. or this is a silly idea.. ?

I am thinking I will end up paying for a kids spaghetti when we go to Tony's, a side vegis, rice ect at Teppan Epp, and a Grilled cheese at Norway. She may be able to eat off of our plates sometimes, but some places she won't IE if I get spicy spaghetti sauce or a BBQ Sammy. I would say at least 1/2 the QS lunches we do, I cannot imagine she is going to only eat enough to share. She is still going to need pizza, or a grilled cheese. Even if older DD wants chicken fingers. She will need her own yogurt, I cannot imagine making a disaster to get them to share.

Staying on DVC and AP holders.. no tickets required..

Am I the only who is thinking about this. AM I over thinking this.. ?

I have figured it to be 120$ for 7 TBS + 7 QS and then she will get 7 snacks..

Snacks easy, she will still want a muffin, toast, banana, orange, water bottle, maybe a rice crispy treat.. prolly not the ice cream, or pop.. but We will use these.. 100%

3 TS dinners for non buffet places 100% will get used. The others.. would be extra, we wouldn't have spent. .

6 QS maybe 1 doesn't get used.. but I think someone will just eat an extra break fast of eggs instead of a bagel n cream cheese. ( 2+ yrs ago, they allowed my DD to pick adult or child with the QS, and the CM stated they do not care which one you pick... but maybe that changed too. Maybe this was not policy, and a favor, but I remember doing this before too. )

5 snacks. 20$
3 TS 30
6 CS 35

This is 85$ worth, and I think I would use no matter what even without the DP. It would then add 4 more TS, 2 more snacks, an extra QS and a refillable mug , to IDK "waste".

Can I do this, and your opinion...
Should I just do add the DP for the baby, for the extra 30$?
Does anyone know if they still do not care if you use adult or child for QS places?

You won't be able to purchase a dining plan without purchasing a ticket as well. That will price you right out of the value of it. I would plan on the sharing and the OOP meals as necessary. I can't picture an under-1 year old needing that much food.

You can do it but you would have to buy park tickets for your DD too. It would be much cheaper to pay OOP.

Staying on points.. and AP holders.. no tickets required.
People have done it before. They have told the CM making the package reservation that they wish to pay for the dining plan for their "under 3" or they want their "under 10" to get the adult plan.

Since you're staying on points, the only way you would be able to do this would be to have the DVC owner add your little one to the reservation as being 3 years old. You'll be fine as long as you don't exceed the room capacity.

She will not need a ticket for the parks because she isn't 3. If you were staying on a regular Disney package, you would have had to purchase her a ticket just like everyone else in the room age 3 and over. But since it's a DVC stay, you don't have to.

My question. Will it affect your occupancy of the villa? Meaning if your under three doesn't count without the dining plan, she will count with the dining plan. If you are in a studio with four people plus your daughter, you now become a family of five and don't fit in a studio anymore.

You might not be in a studio and you might not be four plus one, but just wanted that to be considered.

Pay out of pocket. A number of restaurants won't charge her to eat. Any buffet or family style restaurant for sure. In Norway they even allowed our daughter to order off the menu and we weren't charged for her. We had heard this was the case but didn't want to rely on it. We planned on focusing our efforts with her on the cold buffet but they said her entree was included. Costs at other restaurants will be minimal. You can order most kids entrees at table service restaurants without the extras for a cheaper price- it is sometimes in small print or just ask.

No There are 4 in a 1 bedroom, ( 1 under 3) so this will officially be 5 in a 1 bedroom with 1 under 3.. so we actually could have this with no issues.

I did this with my DD for her first trip. I didn't want to feel like I had to order only kid friendly foods the whole trip. This way I ordered her her own meals and everyone got what they wanted.

Norway not charging actually changes the math about 15$.. I assumed to get her own pizza, I would need to order it.. I knew about buffets, but assumed ordering your own meals.. you would need to pay for it.

If you do this do not use her credits on meals that do not charge her for example if you go to a buffet. you would then have extra credits and you can use TS credits for QS meals so you could get some breakfasts. you could also use the extra TS credits to get her a QS meal instead of a snack and save her snack credits for expensive snacks that the others will eat.

When we were there last August, my niece could not order adult QS with the childs dining plan. She had to order off the kids menus. This was at our resort and at AK. Those were the only times she wanted an adult QS.

We took our 2 yo and shared no problem. We used some snack credits if we had to very rarely. Plenty of food without buying the plan. Refillable mugs equal refills for sippy cups. We did get milk as our drink often and they were two sippy cup servings.

I would just pay out of pocket for what she will eat, I can't imagine at one she will eat a lot. Our DD would eat anything so we just shared with her when she was younger.

DD was just shy of 1 when we went in October. At home she had 2 solid meals a day plus plenty of snacks. At Disney, her eating habits drastically changed. I would not want to pay the money for the DDP for a barely 1 year old becuase you never know. In may, we are just planning on paying OOP for the occasional CS meal for her and we booked a lot of buffets. I'm hopeful that Akershus will give her a free meal, but I'm not going to count on it so we'll just pay OOP if we have to.
