Pay extra and AVOID Budget!

Thrifty and Dollar are the same company as Hertz. Of the 10 companies with cars on site at MCO, 9 are owned by 3 companies. Only Sixt is independent.
Yes, like Marriott is the same as Ritz-Carlton.

another complaint!!They charged my credit card $26.11 for on a toll amount of 14.31. We already paid for Visitors Toll Pass...another phone call to Budget!

Laughing about someone having a glitch (which is probably their fault in the first place) with one company that they'd never use that company again?

Flyover State Alert!

i felt Budget was a bit shady myself. Such as the locking in a gas price but not explaining that was for a full tank. All this really gives a person is not to have to return on a full tank. You will pay more pere gallon unless upi fill up when the tank is almost completely empty. Then they tried to get us to purchase the prepaid daily toll. We knew we only needed to pay for tolls for 2 days of our trip. ended up that Florida was not charging for tolls at that time due to recent bad weather.
Yep, I will go with a different company.

I don't rely on what they "tell" me. All that matters is what's on the WRITTEN contract, and it's all there. You just have to read it. Verbal agreements can never supersede written agreements. All revisions have to be in writing. That's Judge Jude 101.

Have rented plenty of vehicles in the US and other countries and you should not have to read a whole contract to realize they are shady, liars and unethical. Like I mentioned before, Mexico was less schmarmy and that is saying a lot

Having rented many cars I know to decline the fuel and insurance options.

Well if only all of the people in this post who have had the same experience are as smart as yourself.....I stand by my warning about this company

Would that everyone were as smart as I.

The terms of the fueling option are pretty clearly spelled out. It’s not that difficult. Either you agree to return it filled or you can pay them to fill it. Maybe that’s too difficult a choice for some, but it’s not the rental company being shady.

clearly no one is as smart as yourself. It was told to us we had to prove that we paid for the gas via a receipt within 5 miles of the airport. THEY ARE SHADY!

All rental companies will ask for a receipt if you didn’t drive that far, usually about 100 miles. They want to make sure you filled it up again. What’s shady about that?

Because when we showed them the receipt they refused to look at it...SHADY. Stop defending them, it is getting old. There have been numerous examples on this thread of different examples of unethical moves on their part.

Hertz doesn't do that.

And why would they look if you drive <100 miles? They just need to look at the fuel level. Miles has nothing to do with it.

You do realize you just answered your own question, no?

Hertz absolutely has done it to me, several times.

All rental agencies will look at the fuel level. NOT all agencies will ask for a fuel receipt. Hertz has yet to ask me for a receipt.

Red flags go up when the car is returned with low rental mileage. I'm often asked for a receipt (but not always) when I do short rentals. It can happen, so I always keep mine.
