Monday 17th September

Today is Magic Kingdom day. After having breakfast at the Pepper Market again we decided to catch the bus to the Magic Kingdom. We arrived at approx 10am after waiting for 30 mins for a bus to turn up. The view of Main Street in full Halloween decorations was beautiful and as always I could see Ruth welling up as she always does the first time she walks down Main Street.

We headed towards Adventureland and went on the Jungle Cruise, followed by Pirates and Big Thunder in Frontierland. We decided to head round to Liberty Square and try out the recently reopened Haunted Mansion. The new staircase and attic scenes are good along with the floating Leota. After the Haunted Mansion we had lunch at one of our favourite counter service restaurants, Columbia Harbour House. We both had the Galley Salad and I had the Chocolate Cake and Ruth had the Apple Crisp.

After being suitable fed and watered we strolled back to Frontierland and watched the Country Bears. We enjoy these as they are quite funny. We always chuckle when one of the bears does his rendition of ‘Momma don’t whoop little Buford’. We managed to get a shady spot in Frontierland for the parade and yet again Ruth started to well up.

After the parade we headed towards Tomorrowland via Fantasyland to avoid the crowd of people still watching the parade. There we rode Buzz Lightyear where I managed to get the top score of 999,999.

Ruth says it doesn’t count because the ride slowed down at one point, I disagree. We went on the TTA and the Carousel of Progress which are a couple of Ruth’s favourites.

We headed out of the park to catch the bus to Olivia’s Café at Old Key West, I forgot that the bus drops off at Hospitality House last, so we only just made our 6pm ADR.

I had the Anchor Bourbon Chicken Wings

Olivia’s is also one of our favourite restaurants. The service here is excellent and the food is delicious. After dinner we headed back to the Magic Kingdom to watch Spectromagic and Wishes, a perfect end to a magical day & Ruth was in an emotional state again (bless). It was almost midnight when we arrived back at our resort where we collapsed into bed.

Tomorrow: Shopping and Dis meet.

what a fab day, and more great food. I must admit to welling up when I 'come home' to MK. Nowhere else on Earth like it.;)

We went to Olivias for the first time this year and would definately try to go to this restaurant again as the food was a little bit different and delic and the service was out of this world (our server was a sci fi freak)

I have to admit, even after 5 trips to WDW, we've never seen the Country Bears - I hope to rectify this in April :thumbsup2

A lovely day, Paul. I sympathise with Ruth, I am always welling up at MK too. Congrats on your Buzz score - any tips to share?
