What a shame, plus he died of the cancer I had, makes it a bit more personal for me

Very sad. He changed the world and used the proceedes to make it a better place.

This one hits home for my family as well, since he had beaten Hodgkin's years earlier, only to die from non-Hodgkin's. My wife is a Hodgkin's survivor, so the thought of it returning is always in the back of her mind.

I read about that yesterday. Our alma mater (Washington State University) has a building named after him. DH actually met him a few times while conducting research for the School of Global and Animal Health. He was interested in research that they were conducting in east Africa.

Despite being a co-founder of Microsoft, judging from how many views vs. responses, Paul Allen must be bigger in the Pacific Northwest than other places. I'll admit I'm a bit surprised.
