Got some patterned paper with scrapbooking words on it - for which I had a purpose - to scrap Lisa's October Crop. I used one piece on a two page spread with a coordinating color for backgrounds, and to my eye, the pages are a mess.

How do YOU use this stuff?

I am making these for my new great niece's album. Of course, there are no pictures there yet, but I don't think it looks bad.

(I need to add another journal box/space for stats, I think).

Nice page!

I agree that sometimes the words are too much in a 12x12. I just use a piece of the page in that case. Rip about 2x12 piece for a vertical or horizontal border. Or use a 6x8 piece under a matted 4x6 photo -- enough to show the words but not take over the whole layout. You could rip the the page diagonally and adhere them to your 12x12 cardstock -- rip a piece off the upper left quadrant and the lower right quadrant, so you have two trianglular pieces. Some papers seem to me like they are really meant to be cut apart and just use the words as page ebellishments

I love this page:) I use both styles, sometimes if the paper is really busy i will just make a border and sometimes I mat my pictures. Depends on my mood and how busy the paper is ;)

I generally do a border - if I mat I lose the words, in which case why use the paper?:confused3

OF COURSE I couldn't find the remaining sheet of paper EVEN though I had it yesterday :confused3 but here is a scan of the scraps

And what I did with it, that I don't like. It feels too "messy".

I do agree with Mazda, if I use it for a mat, I'd lose the words, and then what's the point. . .

I think it looks really cool! I really love the picture of Lisa.

I wouldn't change a thing.

I think it looks good also. I think sometimes it's fun to have a page that is different than the "usual" style a person scrapbooks in. I know I like to use a certain style so the pages that I veer away from that always stand out more.
I personally like your page. It captures the crazy, fun crop weekends we've all been to!

i like it!
i remember that day. it was a lot of fun!

I do like it too, but it might be outside your comfort zone if it is in a style you don't usually scrap. I agree with scrapgirl3, it seems to capture a fun and busy day!

What is that paper? You probably all know, but I haven't seen it before...

I do too. It was the first day Holly tried to talk me into making her a quilted sweatshirt.

I like it Linda! I misunderstood what you meant by words.

you STILL need to make me one of those!!!!!!!!
i have not forgotten that.

that nice lady near Rhonda and Pam's Jo's had one on too. 'member?

I don't know what the paper was but on one of the scraps there was the start of a dark blue square or rectangular logo on the back so I'm thinking something like stamping station or inspiration station or something like that.

Morgan'smom? are you the sweatshirt maker? I think I misidentified you then - oops!

And was that Holly in the photo with the shirt? I've tried to find the thread where lovingthemouse identified everybody but haven't been able to locate it. There are more people on the page, out of the photo on the right. And three tiny people on the title, two of whom I did not know the names of.

You guys make me feel better - it is pretty far out of my comfort zone, but you're right about it "feeling" like the day.

yes that is me holding the sweatshirt up, but jennifer aka logantylersmom made it!
BUT......
i'm trying to talk jennifer aka mm2000 into making me one!

Yes, and that was the second time you asked me to make you one. Seriously, how could I forget Joanne from Joann's? She almost left with us ;)
