Pats WIN!!!!

Linebacker Rosevelt Colvin made a choke gesture. Defensive lineman Vince Wilfork, and Coner back Hobbs(I think, whoever #27 is) mimicked Shawne Merriman's "Lights Out" dance out ontop of the Chargers logo.
Yes somebody showed NO-CLASS, but IMO it was not LT.

Can't say I agree with that. As Deion Sanders said "That's football". I remember when we got BEAT by the Bronco's (you guys didn't get beat, it was a great game) and Shannon Sharpe used a sideline phone to "call" the National Guard because someone was killing the Patriots  and we didn't call him out. There are too many examples of teams who have a player who does a particular thing that is mimicked when that team loses for me to list.I used the Sharpe comment because it's the only one I can think of pertaining just to the Pats, we don't really have a "dance" that we do.

Deion also had a good point about LT misdirecting his anger. Be mad at the personal fouls for 15 yards, or the dropped passes or blown time-outs, not at someone else celebrating. I think LT is an awesome player and it's just too bad that he took it so personal,it's part of football.

Thanks for a great game...I truly think that game should have been the AFC Championship game. See you next year!

Yay Pats!!!! I don't know how they find a way to get it done, but they do and it is amazing every time!

As for LT, well, he and the team were talking a little trash all week while the Pats remained quiet... As Troy Brown has said, they say it on the field, and they did, yet again.... Don't talk trash about a team all week, expect to roll over them & then get upset when that team goes ahead, wins and then does the other teams dance....

And it is just too bad so many Pats fans were shut out from going to the game since to buy tickets you had to have a Southern California address... go figure!

It was an ugly, ugly win for the Pats - but a win nonetheless! I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact I was watching the last of their season. Boy, was I surprised and elated they won! Tom Brady just knows how to work those 2 minute offenses and he's so cute, to boot!

Yay Pat's!!!!!!!!!!

I saw an interview during the Pats/Jets game last week with Merriman and he was talking so much trash it was ridiculous, I don't blame the guys for celebrating. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I hope someone is rethinking the decision to send just one Patriot to the Pro Bowl. :scratchin

I agree. But the whole week leading up to this game, San Diego had some serious words for the Pats and the Pats never once came back at them. Like Bruschi said "we'll see on Sunday" and thats exactly what they did. The New England Patriots are the most classy football players I have ever seen. They don't run their mouth, they bring it and it shows every game.

GO PATS!!:cheer2:

I doubt it. We never get any respect and I guess that's the way it's going to be.

The only analyst I heard pick the Pats was Boomer (Yah Boomer!) and everyone else was on the Charger bandwagon (no disrespect to the Chargers).

Same thing for the Jets game. All we heard was how it was a changing of the guard, how the student was going to school the teacher, blah blah blah. Now it will be how it's Peyton's time, how he finaly is going to beat NE in the playoffs because of his beating us in the regular season, Addai is such a good back, etc....Yeah, whatever. See you Sunday popcorn::

After Nate Kaeding's field-goal attempt, New England players were seen taunting the Chargers by dancing on the team's helmet at midfield.

Linebacker Rosevelt Colvin made a choke gesture. Defensive lineman Vince Wilfork, and Coner back Hobbs(I think, whoever #27 is) mimicked Shawne Merriman's "Lights Out" dance out ontop of the Chargers logo.

So let me see if I understand this...it's all right for Merriman to do a weird dance, basically taunting, when he sacks the quarterback but it's not all right for the Patriots to mimic it when they just sacked the whole team
I don't quite get the logic there.....

great game, but I feel a little bit bad for Marty Shottenheimer, guy just never seems to win in the playoffs

It was an ugly game-and we still won! :cheer2: Bring on Indy!

queenie- check out ESPN club. Just be sure to GET THERE REALLY EARLY!

:thumbsup2 Oh...and it was a great game too! Nervewracking as hell, but great.

Reminds me of my son's soccer team last year. The kids at school on his team were taunted for two weeks by the kids at school from the other team about how they were going to get the crap beat out of them for the state championship...we heard that the other team's parents had purchased their flights to the regionals before the game...and guess what...we won. But of course, then the other team's players and parents said that we shouldn't have won. :confused3 (Ahhh...but we DID!)

I must say, I'm not a Pats fan at all but I really wanted them to win so that the Colts have home field advantage next week :rotfl2:

It should be a very good game next week.

Go INDY!!!!

The Chargers won 14 games this season, not once did Merriman run to CENTER FEILD and do the dance on the home teams logo. Not once did a Charger player make a choking gesture at opposing players, even though they had numerous come from behind wins.

Yes the Pats showed exactly how classy they are.

At least the Pats weren't trashtalking the Chargers the week before the game. The Chargers thought they were going to walk all over New England and when they lost- they couldn't take it.

I find just as many pre-game quotes from the PATS as there are from the Chargers, to say that the PATS did not "say" anything during the week is a lie.

But feel free to share quotes of the Chargers talking trash during the week, I found plenty of compliments from the Charger players talking about how good the PATS are.

Please feel free to share some examples.

I have another example, from the BOSTON GLOBE and not the San Diego papers.

Rosevelt Colvin came off the field at Qualcomm Stadium with fire flying from his mouth. “Shut the power off!” shrieked Colvin down a hallway to a group of Chargers players entering their locker room. His voice echoed off the walls, and stadium security guards began to inch off their posts in anticipation of a Chargers player going at the Pats linebacker.
“It’s lights out!” continued Colvin, mocking the nickname of Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman. “See you next year, chumps!”

Anewman
I started this thread with joy, and if it's going to denigrate into a p*ssing contest I will ask it to be closed.

I thought the Chargers played a heck of a game and should be very proud of their season. LT is a great back with (I'm sure) a great shot at another chance to go the Superbowl.

Emotions run high at times like that and there was probably poor behavior on both sides of the ball as those emotions took hold. Let's be better than that,ok?
