Patio seating for rose and crown/ Illuminations Epcot

We have PS's(7.30) for The rose and Crown, with a hope of getting a patio table to watch Illuminations.

What are other people's experiences of this, Ive heard a few people say its easier to eat somewhere else earlier and stake out a place near the lagoon.

Seeing as we hadnt done this before we thought it would be nice, but now im starting to have second thoughts!

What are your thoughts, and who else has done this?.

What we did on our last trip was visit the podium outside the restaurant earlier on in the day and we asked the Cast Member if it was possible for a patio table overlooking the lagoon for our 7.30pm PS. She said she would try her best to get us one and wrote it down in the book.

We returned at about 7.15pm and there were no patio seats available. However, the CM said that if we were willing to wait 20 minutes (until 7.35) then one would be availablen for us as we had previously requested one earlier in the day . It is fantastic being able to watch them from your table whilst enjoying a meal.

I think it is worth going to see them earlier in the day so that they can make a note of it.

We did this on our first Orlando holiday and really enjoyed it. The view of illuminations was superb with no obstructions to mar the view. As is was in May we didn't have any problem when we requested outside seating, possibly just luck!!

The one word of warning though is that it did get quite chilly especially for the kids.

I was just wondering how you book PS from the UK?? I travel to Orlando in 2 wks for the 1st time and am starting to get very worried that I have done virtually no planning except buy disney tickets!!
