"If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it," Robertson told viewers on his "The 700 Club" show Monday. "It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war."

Now, granted, I think Chavez is nutty as a fruitcake and uses anti-US sentiment to distract Venezuelans from domestic problems -- but in the category of Best Nutcase in a Leading Role, the Nutbar (with nougat) goes to... (drumroll please) Pat Roberston ;)

What a nice thing for a "man of God" to say.

Aren't ministers and priest supposed to preach peace?

Robertson should know better. Otherwise if he really is losing it as in dementia, he should retire and get out of the public eye.

Ouch. I definately have a problem with anyone from the pulpit calling for an assassination. It rings of Mullahs calling for jihad. Having said that however, I wouldn't mind if Chavez "tripped and fell", "got a bad ice cube", suffered from "acute lead poisoning", etc. It would be nice if a good citizen of Venezuela stepped up to the plate but its not a foreign policy that we should advertize. Is 007 around?? ;)

As a Christian and sometimes watcher of the 700 club, even I have to say thats taking it way too far.

Pat Robertson needs to retire now. This comment was beyond outrageous. It's unfortunate that his group continues to allow him access to the cameras to make statements like this.

Yep - You hit the nail right on the nougat!

He's been deranged for years, IMO (Have you heard his theory about the freemason's plan for a new world order?)

Yeah, I think Robertson is more than just a little off in the head.

Ok, somebody hold onto Robertson. I aint without sin, I'll cast the first friggin' stone.

The guy is a nutcase.

Yes they are, but you have ALOT of false "Men of GOD" preaching in the pulpit holding a one way ticket to hell.

Isn't that wild!?! I mean, I always thought American assassination plots were whispered about behind closed doors! Now he wants to call out a jihad?? :rotfl:

not trying to offend anyone but this guys is nuts and whats scarier is that hes on TV and people actually LISTEN TO HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just watching CNN and they had on some head of this or that Evangelical somethingorother, (Sorry, I caught it after he had been introduced), and he was basically saying that he didn't think it was good choice of words but he thinks that PR is just trying to avoid a war and that there are ways to minimize that threat. When pressed if he (the guest) would ever advocate assasination, he said that he is a law abiding citizen, as are all Evangelicals, and if the law of the land forbids it, then, of course, he wouldn't do it. Laws of the Land?!?! Don't Evangelicals follow those "10 Simple Rules"? I mean, I really got the impression that this guy was actually defending PR. It was really creepy.
