Ok....I've found the Clarion for $318. for 2 nights

OK....I've saved $203 dollars from 5 mins ago....anymore ideas...

Are you booking more than one room at the Clarion? Triple A rate quoted to me was $80 per night...two nights $160, plus tax :)

put in AAA for the discount if you have the AAA card. Or look for the internet special....or call...Nancy posted it for $80 a night....keep trying.

Bernie has numbers to group discount for the passes, saves a little more and he has a group lunch or something at $8.95 a person for Sat.

How is that?

We are bringing our car fridge for on the road eating...to save some money, and buy snacks for the kids. I am not even going to look at the gas part, I figure it will be cheaper than flying anywhere.

Tried Priceline for the heck of it and didn't score :( I had to try...

I imagine the Zurg family requires 2 hotel rooms for 6 family members.

Kim - do you want 2 full days at Cedar Point? If one-day tickets will do, plus the exciting POOL PARTY- you'll save a good deal of $$.

That's an idea...it just seemed that lots of people were doing 2 days at the park...but I guess I wouldn't have time.....Ok....additional savings..$181....

total savings....$480

grand total is now down to...$748......it's getting better.....:D :D :D :D :D

A little more tweeking and I might just be able to do....we will have to see......:D :D :D

I guess there is a separate admission price for both the water park and Cedar Point? I would like to do the water park on Friday during the day, and then spend all day Saturday at CP. Does anyone know how much the water park admission is, and can we get a discount on that also? I don't have a lot of $ to put out either.

FYI.......Clarion is $72 for the 31st and $80 for the 1st. This hotel is fairly new!

We'll get this down to $300 before we're finished, Kim, cheaper than staying at home for the weekend, LOL. :teeth:

Robin, get everyone from the Atlanta meet to come to the Riddle-Con!!!!! :bounce:

Okay, I admit I'm real late with this...

Has anyone tried Priceline for hotels? I know Nancy and Barry are big PL users so I assume that's not an option? huh?

Otherwise I stick with Nancy's suggestion!

It does sound like fun, though. If there's no problems you can count on us from 7/31 - 8/3.

ROBIN!!!!! HURRAH!!! I absolutely CANNOT wait to meet you and give you a great big HUG! If I was not excited before... I DEFINITELY AM NOW!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

This is going to be soo much fun. :teeth:

Laura, go to the Cedar Point Website. There is a combination ticket for the 2 parks. We have considered Cedar Point for Saturday and Soak City for Sunday. DH works Tuesday - Saturday so he already is taking off Friday and Saturday. We have to add our time on to the end of the weekend.

Thanks Carol!

OOOhhhh, just got blocked by the dreaded 50 second rule! Will try again...

The Clarion was originally a Four Points Sheraton, so I'm not sure how old it is.

I'm sure it's possible to get a hotel in Sandusky through Priceline...in January! :p

I checked out the website, but it is not really clear to me. Is the Funday admission just for CP? They have a 2 day pass that looks like it allows you to hop between the water park and CP both days, but I'm not sure if the one day Funday admission allows that. The group discounts look pretty good.

Rats. The $24 admission for the waterpark seems sort of high for 1 afternoon. I'm sure there are discount coupons for it however. Someone had mentioned earlier about a discount booklet - is that through the CP website or through an Ohio state visitors website?

Laura - call 1-800-BEST-FUN to get the coupon book. There MIGHT be a buy-one-get-one-free coupon, or else a money-off coupon for Soak City.
