I have just booked a summer holiday to Spain and was told that everyone needed 6 months left on the passports to go there too. I certainly didn't think you needed 6 months to travel in Europe

Just checked Spanish consulate aswell, as my son is going to Marid with his School in June. It says:-
British passport [European Community] holders:
You do not need a minimum of validity in your passport to travel to Spain.
You can travel to Spain as long as the passport is valid.
Any children included in the passport must be under 16 years of age.
This information is applicable for mainland Spain, as well as the Canary & Balearic Islands, Ceuta & Melilla.
Hope this helps
