can i upload my passport to the disney cruise website before online check in? also does a pic on a phone of a passport upload without problems or do you need to have the actual passport? a friend is going and dont want to be responsible for her passport

You can't upload any documents until your online check in window opens. For our last cruise, I scanned our passports using the flatbed scanner on my all-in-one printer. I had no issues uploading the images during online check in. Many people use their phones to take the picture of their passport and they have uploaded those with no issue.

Grain of salt but...of the two cruises I took, I could only upload photos when i checked in online.

I always take photo of my passport with my phone and upload from there. The only thing you may have to do is convert the photo to jpg. apple photos native file type won't work, but is is super easy to convert to jpg

As others said, you cannot upload until online check in (kind of a bummer, I know). I've used photos of my passport on my phone with no issue. You don't need the actual passport during online check in, just be sure you have the passport number and expiration, as you will be asked to enter those (sometimes it can read it from the picture and auto-fill, but better to have it).

Phone photo is fine. You need to wait for your on-line check in. Have your other photo and any other documentation ready.
