My husbands passport expires before his visa does, does that mean that when he renews his passport he has to get a new visa? We are really confused and any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated - thanks! :flower:

If he can travel on the visa waiver programme then get his passport renewed before October and he can then travel visa free. If he needs a visa then I can't help - sorry :guilty:

I think (though I'm far from sure) you would get a new passport and also take the expired passport with the unexpired visa in it to show too.

Or maybe you have to go to the actual embassy and have them put the visa in the new passport?

Best bet is to call the embassy and ask them on the 'phone to be certain you do the right thing :bitelip:

Thanks for the advice - DH is going to contact the embassy in the next few days so I will update you all then.

Thanks for your help and support. :sunny:

Yes,
you take your new passport and your old one with the visa in.

Absolutely right. My original indefinite visa (issued before the VWP, they don't do indefinite now) lasted through 2 renewals of passport. In fact, the visa was in my old blue british passport.
