Hi,

As we are now a family of 5!!!!! I brought some coloured passport covers (i.e blue, pink etc) so I can tell whos is whos...however not sure if these are liked by the good old immigration offers in both the US and the UK ... anyone used them before and had any problems...I think they look really cute but don't want to get any hassle using them...

Thanks
Nat

We have them, you have to take them out of cover to be checked (machine readable) but they are still great for identifying passports as you approach customs

What a good idea..where did you get them?

Gill - got them from Ebay - £1.99 each and some fab colours and leather :) I got blue, white/silver (for the boys) and lilac, baby pink and pink for me and my girls....

Cheers
Nat

Hiya,

I have a pink one which I keep both mine & df passport in at home to keep passports from getting damaged.

When we approach checkin desk/passport control/immigration I remove passports then hand them over. Cant imagine they would be too impressed with fiddling around to remove them from checking (they also have to look at passports for forgeries).

My niece has a playboy cover - but was told by immigration in Sanford to remove it when showing her passport. No big deal just remember to remove them once your in the queue.

Thanks for this thread - it's something I wouldn't have thought of asking! I'm glad to know the answer before risking getting a 'telling off' on arrival in Orlando! ;)

DDs were both given these last Christmas, so our July trip will be the first time they'll be using them since then. On thinking about it, I'm sure the covers would make it impossible to put the passport through the machine-reader at passport control.

I have a Hello Kitty passport cover that I got off Ebay, the customs guy just removed it - I thought he just didn't like the look of it!! Realise now that it is because of machine readable passports, must try to remember to take the cover off this time! Have had no problem in UK, but usually you're just showing your pic anyway, not having your passport read.

I have found it a lot easier having a cover on my passport though, and there are only two of us.
