I try to play word games with my kids. Like someone says a word and then the next person has to come up with a word that starts with the last letter of the first word. Or the "I'm going on a trip" game. Or naming states. Etc.

Pipe cleaners. You can bend them into shapes or "fight" each other with them. They are cheap and easily carried around and you can take extra to hand out in line. And if you lose one, no big deal.

We play the "I'm thinking of" game (like 20 questions but without the question limit). We've always had cranky kids join in with that one - and they they're not cranky anymore.

We talk. We regularly visit a local amusement park and when we go on weekends it's not uncommon to spend 1-1/2 for the headliners. So we talk. We all have smart phones but we try to not use them when we are all together.

Visit with the other people in line. We have met some really nice people from all over the world while waiting. You already have something in common, a Disney vacation and waiting for the same attraction. I also like riding the Disney buses for the same reason. Cheers!!!!!!

We plan our " attack" for what's next. Depending on the time of day, we figure out if we want to do another ride/ show or grab a bite to eat. Dome attractions have interactive queues and decor to check out, Disney offers a LOT of details. Sometimes we talk with the others in line, I love hearing suggestions of what they liked or hated.
I also look for hidden Mickey's or other details in line.
