I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct area, so please move if it's not in the right place.

I'm considering buying an AP for the first time for just myself. I will be running the 10k at the Princess Half Marathon in Feb with my sister *DH and kids will NOT be on this trip (also first time for that)* We are planning to return as a family (DH and 6 kids) in Oct. We will be staying on property and want to have the dining plan. Since I will have my AP, I won't be needing a ticket, but DH and kids will. Am I able to book our rooms, add on dining plan for all 8 of us, and then only buy the 7 tickets we'll need?

The way to make that work is to call and book a ticketless package with the dining plan, and then buy 7 tickets separately. The downside is that when you book a package you have a deposit and you can pay it off over time, but when you buy the tickets separately you have to pay for them in full.

Thank you!!! I can buy my tickets from a non-disney place, like Undercover tourist, correct? and then link them to my ressie?

With the AP pass there are many restaurants offering a 20% discount on food and merchandise. Check the perks out for AP. You may find it better than the dining plan.
