Pass upgrade question

Ok, we are going to be volunteering for the GAD promotion and going to disney in March. We MAY return next year for the same exact week in March. Here is my question:

I know that we can use the GAD voucher towards a longer pass or a DVC annual pass. If we upgrad to an annual pass, that pass will expire 365 days from when we first use it, in essence making it useless for the trip next year. But, what if we upgrated the GAD to a 9 day pass. Then on day 9 upgraded that to an annual pass. A) What kind of discount would we receive off of the annual pass? Anything? Full value of the 9 day pass? Nothing? I don't know B) Assuming some sort of a discount, when would the annual pass expire?

Does this question even make any sense? It does in my head, just don't know about in writing!

The expiration of the Annual Pass would be back-dated to the date of first use of the original ticket, so it doesn't really matter...but you'd get the gate-price credit of a 1-day base ticket towards the 9-day, and then the gate price of a 9-day ticket to the AP. The savings (and the expiration) would be the same as if you upgrade directly would be the same as if went from GAD ticket directly to AP.

Unless you can get both complete trips within the 365 days, you are better off with separate park tickets.

Yes.

If you can upgrade a 1-day MYW base ticket to the target ticket, you can upgrade this one. It is for all intents and purposes a MYW ticket, with the only restriction is that you MUST use it on the day of issue.
