Can anyone think of prizes for games at children's parties that do not immedialty end up in the garbage can? I'd like to spend $3 or less per prize. Thank in advance.

Jump rope
sidewalk chalk
bubbles -they make some good ones now

Candy!

It's very very temporary in its existence :thumbsup2

Card games (Go Fish, Old Maid, etc.)
Mini-Etch-A-Sketch - We bought these for a birthday party a few years ago; they retail for $4, but we picked a bunch up during the summer months as they went on sale. Some were $2.77, some were Buy-1-Get-1-Free.

For DS2's upcoming birthday, I'm thinking of getting Barrels of Monkeys.

Just had this exact conversation with the ladies in my office. I am going to call our local Dairy Queen and other Ice Cream stop to see if they have certs for free ice cream cones...???

Also checked our local Target dollar Spot....

I will be watching this thread with my fingers crossed

For kids that are how old?

One of the coolest prizes I've seen recently, that went over really big with the kids, was for older girls. They would get embroidery floss for making the bracelets, or some of the beads and the rope for making necklaces. Some of them got lip gloss, or hair elastics. Most of that stuff you can get at the dollar store fairly inexpensively.

Good ideas. Keep them coming. If it helps, this is for my son's hockey team ages 6-8.

Playdoh?

When my kids were little, I really resisted junk food and candy, but as they got older, I got to appreciate this statement by ckay87, and wish I had figured it out sooner, after years of collecting clutter in my house from parties and stocking stuffers:

Skip the makeup then ;)

How about getting some of the packages of Matchbox cars (that have a few in the package) and splitting them up? My neighbor's kids are forever outside playing with those (and my dog is forever stealing them, so I get to bring them back all the time.....)

At the last BD party my daughter attended she got a $3 gift card for Cold Stone Creamery. All the kids seemed thrilled with this.

I got lucky with those little lego sets one year- they were all $3 and I bought a bunch and handed those out- the little ones with things like a guy on a bike...
I've done Hula hoops
puzzles
dollar store diaries with a fancy $ store pen...(and by fancy I mean fluffy and girly... lol)
Playground balls
pail and shovel
sunglasses
coloring book with crayons
I prefer just wrapping up one thing instead of a bag of junk.
My kids have been getting gift cards!($5 ones! they love that) those are the older ones though- so there are only like 4 children at a party.

Awhile back, I found some clear acrylic light-up cups on sale at the Discovery store for $5 per 4-pack. I thought they'd be great to serve drinks in at a b'day party and let the kids take them home after the party.

Are we talking girls or boys, and what age group? For my DD's Bday last year (at 9), I had a bunch of beads and jewelry making supplies, and each girl made their own pair of earrings or a bracelet if they didn't have pierced ears.
