Parties

Actually, the hours for September have just been released, so you can tell what dates are going to be party dates in September by looking at what dates have MK closing at 7:00. (The exceptions would be the 6th and 7th when MK closes early for Night of Joy.)

When do the dates for MNSSHP and MVMCP come out?

The September TA disney calendar is already out, so look for the dates starting mid-sept that MK closes at 7 and those are likely party nights. On my iPad and can't find the link at the moment, but I'm sure it is on this site in one of the September threads.:goodvibes

Based on the September 2013 park hours that released yesterday, Ill post what I believe to be Night of Joy and Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party dates for September 2013. They should be confirmed in April or May, but Im pretty confident that these dates will stick. The possible dates for October will be released in mid to late March.

Night of Joy Sept 6 & 7

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party
Tuesday Sept 10, 17, 24
Friday, Sept 13, 20, 27
Sunday, Sept 29

During our upcoming trip, there will be MNSSHPs on Tues 9/24, Fri 9/27, and Sun 9/29.

We've never done the Halloween party before. My question is, Should we be considering going to TWO nights? Or is this a waste of money?

My wife and I are huge Halloween fans, but don't generally do lots of character interaction. We'd definitely be doing the parade and Wishes. The reason I'm thinking we might want to go to two nights would be to make sure we can enjoy everything without missing out or running around like crazy.

A side question is whether it's worth the money for the parties for the sole purpose of taking advantage of shorter lines while everyone else is partying. If so, that might be a reason to plan to go the second night.

Basically, though, it seems like a lot of people just go one night, but I was wondering why.

Thanks!

One night is certainly worth it, according to most. Whether a second night is is up to you.

I do not recommend going for the express purpose of getting shorter lines, but plenty do that too,

We aren't big character meeters (yet) either. I think character interactions takes the most time at the parties, so if you'll be skipping characters you won't need two nights. You'll have plenty of time to do everything and enjoy short lines (at least that was our experience).

In our experience, the only things that took up time were the character interactions (especially earlier in evening- at some point even us lax parents have to get our young ones home), and some of the lines for candy- there was no way we were going to wait more than 30 seconds for candy - we found the candy lines in "far corners" of park were basically empty.

I agree; that's a lot of money to spend just for shorter lines, especially since September has low crowds anyway. I think a lot of people who do 2 parties focus on character meet and greets for one and then the parade, trick or treating and HalloWishes for the other one, but if you're not interested in that(although one thing to keep in mind is that the parties are probably the only time to meet the Seven Dwarfs as well as the princesses with their princes), then one should be enough. What you could do though is do one party and then decide if you want to do a second one.

Good breakdown. Leads me to my next question. Don't the party tickets sell out? I figured I would need to get tickets well in advance, meaning I wouldn't be able to leave it up to chance and whim during the trip? Or maybe this is just a concern closer to Halloween?

A concern closer to Halloween. Also, there have been a couple of sellouts towards the end of September in recent years.
