PART THREE! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

I was adding tasks to ToodleDo for the trip and I didn't have to change the month to set the due dates. :) Nov 25th (a week before we leave) is my deadline for everything except packing.

So I keep telling myself that after this week, I can totally focus on just Disney. But that's kind of disingenuously ignoring the whole Christmas shopping thing. Normally I start shopping on Nov 1 and finish by Nov 30. Given that we leave on Dec 3rd for two weeks, I was thinking the usual plan would work fine. Except that I do all my shopping online - and I do not want packages arriving while I'm gone. So I realized last night Im going to have to get all the shopping done in the next two weeks. Yikes!

I am right there with you on the Christmas shopping! I want it 100% DONE before we leave on the 10th, and I order stuff online.

Last year I had to ship DH's presents to a coworker's house because it was going to come while we were in Disney. Nothing like asking if you can ship a lightsaber to someone's house. :rotfl:

DH will be home this year since he's not going, but still - I want it DONE!!!

This will be our 1st time at OKW. We will be using busses. I don't know how to copy what I'm replying to. Sorry. We could use tips. We are staying at HH.

I have stayed a OKW a lot (home DVC resort) - we haven't used the buses in a while because it was easier to use our rental car. However if you are in the HH section it's a easy walk to the main pool, Olivia's, community hall etc. There is quite a few bus stops in the resort and when you check in I would figure out which one is closest. There is also a boat that runs to DTD which is a fun little ride. There is also a OKW Lovers Thread that has a bit of info on it. Here is a map of the resort if you haven't stumbled upon one yet!

Not to put anyone off, but I HATED OKW when we stayed there.

I've stayed at POR, the all stars, bay lake tower, and saratoga springs, and OKW was by far my least favorite. It just felt so detached and isolated.

If you're looking for peace and quiet on the other hand, it's great.

As a young guy who wants to be in the middle of it all the time, it was terrible. I hated relying on the buses to get anywhere fun.

Phew, I have caught up finally! Before I comment I would just like to say that I am glad our east coast roll-callers all seem to have their power back but my heart goes out to all those that still don't have power, lost houses/belongings or even worse, loved ones be it human or animal.

I am also sorry that many children were not able to enjoy Halloween - srauchbauer you are so kind

THANK YOU!!

The bank fraud dept had already put a hold on my account because my debit card had been used yesterday for over $2000!!:scared1: I never use my debit card and that is way more than was in my checking. So the teller called the fraud people and then I talked to the fraud lady. Both said the charges would be taken off, no problem.

I am sorry this happened :( I always try and see the bright side (if possible) and I have to confess, the first thing that went through my head were  wow, they were able to spend more in one day than Valgoof ... way to go!! And then I thought it would be hilarious if the teller said "Yes Ma'am, they spent 2k online at the Disney Store" and you're all "oh :guilty: that was me" :rotfl: Its a pain, but I'm glad you are getting it sorted.

We will be at OKW from 11/30 to 12/5. Can't wait.

Welcome!!

I wish my body could handle a "little black dress"!

Mine can totally handle a "little black dress" ..... its a black trash bag but it works HA!

Excuse the brown boots and knee socks. I was wearing those with my jeans today. I plan on wearing black tights (gotta suck in that tummy pooch), black leather knee-high boots, and turquoise statement earrings. The dress has a beige lining, and it is black lace all over, with leather cuffs on the sleeve. DH approves. :thumbsup2

Love the dress!

Morning all!

Back with power, finally got to go home last night.

Also, ONE MONTH!

I'm getting married, and going to WDW next month.

What an awesome thing to be able to say.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Happy to hear you have power back :thumbsup2

I would like to send a little pixie dust to our East coast kids; if you and your little ones could not enjoy Halloween please let me know and the Rauchbauer family would like to send a little something to the little ones.

That is a beautiful thing to do, thank you!

I am commenting without knowing the scope of this. However Disney has a healing power - I think it helps my husband and I become friends, relax and re connect. I'm not sure if its the bubble effect and disconnect from reality or what, but it does help!

I totally agree .... my DH has always hated theme parks etc. 2010/2011 he battled with his health - minus the depressing details, we were preparing for the worst, it was a really rough time and in the end he was in bed for almost 6 months. He was NOT looking forward to Disney ... said he wouldn't go any rides, he was just going for our DD .... but it was the BEST THING EVER. Mentally, it helped him get over "staring death in the face" and he still says it was the best medicine he could have. It made him strong and it re-connected us. He was running from ride to ride, attraction to attraction like a huge kid - when I think of it, I see him running in slow motion :rotfl: When he got home, he had a re-newed outlook on life :)

We have been staying there since my parents bought into DVC in 93. So for me it's a little different. It's part of the Disney magic. However I feel like OKW is what it was designed to be, a home away from home type community. However, now that my mom transferred DVC to me I do look forward to staying at places that have a "resort" feel... Hoping next year we can stay at BWV and BLT...

Funny thing I looked at the original contract and my parents bought DVC and it was $50 bucks a point Wow!

I *love* that trilogy.

Heir to the Empire is the book that got me into reading the Star Wars expanded universe (though I did read all of the Rogue Squadron comics, even have Wizard's issue 1/2). And I think it would be the series of books that would be best on the screen. The Youzong Vong war is too complicated. But I am still waiting for a Wraith Squadron animated movie.

Congrats on the power and DOUBLE CONGRATS on the 1 month til your nuptuals. Hope we run into you down there (even though we never got to have our wager :sad2: )

YES! To answer everyone's question, YES...! I did squeak like a 50's sitcom wife seeing a mouse, when I clicked this link. I am even still sporting a cheshire cat grin :ccat: .

The funny thing is, yesterday was BDLsgal's birthday (yep, Halloween baby). And she amassed a good amount of Disney gift cards. She offered to give them to me to pay for the PP+. I said NOPE, those are your's. She kept insisting, so then I finally said "Just hang onto them until the MVMCP. Think of how many blankets and MVMCP pins you can buy with that." And the issue was decided. :santa:

And just seeing the map, the times and the cocoa/cookie stations just makes everything more real.

Morning fellow DISers...

29 days from today, right at this time, we'll be 1.5 hours into our flight!!!

Does anyone else experience craziness before a vacation? It seems like anything and everything that can happen to mentally wear a person down or things being thrown into your life - all seems to come down before a vacation? That's kinda where I am today... :confused3 Makes you want your vacation now!! Maybe all these things happen so we appreciate it more when it does come? :sad2:

Still trying, without success to get into the Dessert Party on ANY of our nights... not happening...

Really leaning toward LaNuoba tickets, especially since ^^ isn't working out... Found decent seats for $99 each.

Will bring out the suitcases this weekend and might even put up our Christmas trees (only fluffing, no decorating)... that's definitely going to make me feel like it's right around the corner!

With the state the Eagles are in? I'm not wagering my garbage on that team!

But yes, I wouldn't mind running into each other, although I think most of our plans are in conflict. Haha

I pretty much only read the Timothy Zahn books. I tried a few others but couldn't get past the terrible writing. But he's such a great author I ended up reading his non-SW stuff as well.

TP has a post on MVMcP today. And DIS reported that the first party is Sold Out.

It's definitely holiday time!!! :)

Happy November everyone. Glad everyone is safe and sound so far. Does anyone know if there is anyone in the NY NJ Conn. area on this board that hasn't checked in?

I can't believe there are only 27 days left until our trip. I can't wait to relax on the balcony overlooking giraffes, et all at AKL beause there has been so much stress here with the house. Living in a 'staged' super clean home is impossible with a 10 year old. Last night some people came to see the house at 6:00pm! On Halloween! I shouldn't complain because this is their 2nd time but it was really inconvenient. I am sure they were walking around the house with the doorbell ringing every 2 minutes

10 day forecast for Orlando: http://weather.yahoo.com/united-states/florida/orlando-2466256/ Looks perfect!

Anyway with people talking about packing I feel a song coming on......

I did have that when I was calling to cancel my other credit cards. I asked them to check and see if there had been any recent charges. One card had my shopping from Saturday--Target, Bath and Body, Kroger and then the Disney Store online on Monday. I was like, yep those are mine. :rotfl:

We stayed at HH as well, and learned that if you want to get to the MK at rope drop, consider using the bus stop over at Miller's Landing.

HH was the last stop at OKW, and the bus filled up before it got there. It was so frustrating to watch the busses come in empty, swing to the left, circle the resort and pass us by on the way out! :furious: Finally, we asked the concierge what to do, and she told us to walk over to the first bust stop at Miller's Landing. Then, we were first on the bus. I'm pretty sure we got to MK an hour later than we wanted to.

We never had a problem with the other parks' busses, only MK's because they fill up so fast. So you might want to park yourself in front of the HH just for fun on the first day and see if the bus is still stopping at HH last. If you look toward the entrance kiosk, you can see the busses come in, and then watch which direction they go. :)

To add to this- the Peninsular Rd bus stop is also considered the HH area and is one of the first stops. I love the units over there- some of them you can see parts of illuminations from the balconies!

That's a little closer walk to HH, as well. :thumbsup2

I can officially say I'm leaving this month!!! I can't believe it is right around the corner!! So much to do in the next 3 weeks and 6 days!! AAUUGGGHH!!!:cheer2:
