Thanks so much for responding! Your blade has been good for a year?!? :scared1: I really don't know much about the Cricut, but when I borrowed it, I had to replace it and about 60 pages of cutting later (6x12), I replaced it because it ate 2 sheets of expensive paper. Maybe I was premature, but I didn't want to have to go to the store for more glitter cardstock if it ate more sheets.

I think you just sold me even more. And I hate the stupid cutting mats--you don't use one on your Silhouette, right? Only 25 or so full-page cuts and you have to replace the stupid mat. Also, I hate being forced to do layers like they want. I could save so much paper if I could control it. I'm sure some of it is operator error on my part, but even still.

Where are you taking your class? If I'm going to buy this machine, I definitely want to know how to use it well. I'm a whiz on InDesign and decent enough on Illustrator, so when I saw a clip with their software, I felt very comfortable. Thanks again for responding. I was feeling a little angsty about shelling out for a machine when I could deal with the MIL/SIL to borrow the Cricut, but since it would only take about 30 projects' worth of cutting mats and blades to cover the cost, and don't even get me started on the cartridges, I think it will be a good deal for me.

Mine uses a mat but Im not certain about the newer ones. i know the eCraft doesn't. but I wouldn't recommend that one. i had high hopes before it came out. The machine is supposedly great but their software was a total flop. And its just no good without the software.

Keri Bradford is the Silhouette queen. She has classes at JessecaSprague.com. I also saw a Tweet today about someone else doing a class - Creative Passions, maybe?

DH and I picked up two sets of 3 piece luggage set that was on sale for $38.99 each! Can't wait to start packing!

I'm also realizing how close our trip is now. I went to my podiatrist and made another follow-up appointment for 2 weeks from today. Looking at their calendar made me realize that we will have just about 3 weeks after that appointment before we go :cool1:

For all you Cricut users - did you know there was a place where you can rent the cartridges? Its like Netflix - you pay a monthly fee, put the cartridges you want in a queue they send you one, when you've finished you return it and they send the next one. Can't remember the name but I can find out, a friend uses it :)

I didn't want to mention it .... I actually thought of asking where you were yesterday, I thought maybe you weren't in the mood after that game :(

Nah. We didn't look like we wanted to win at all. I don't know what happened.....too many rookies? Anyway it's all good! Only now there's no hockey and our football teams sucks rocks. :). I still have 2011 :)

So u get 2 days of early admission for that one day, right?

I think you get the first and last day of early admission.......but don't quite me. We'll be there too late for early admission the day we arrive and we're only staying one night. We'll get early admission that next morning. AAA discount on the room too. I booked through room 77 or something like that.

I thought of you when I was typing that with your Le Cellier and BOG issue. I didnt know you had the dessert party that same night!! You are wearing the stretchy pants that day, right? :goodvibes

Hahaha. Yes and the next day too.

I have the original Silhouette. I bought it discounted right before the Cameo came out. I haven't used I as much as I would like, but honestly - I live it. And every time I use it I think if more things I could be using it for. I really want to learn to do more, like print and cut. There's a couple of classes I really want to take but for now Im using it and loving it.

I use it on a PC. I wanted one that hooked to the computer and didn't use cartridges, mostly because with my Sizzix, most of my dies were alphas. I wanted a machine that would cut the bazillion fonts I already own. But since then I've actually bought other designs that aren't alphas. Things that I would not have bought for my Sizzix because they're so cheap. For example, I needed to make 3 3-D flowers for school. I found a cutting file in the online store for 99 cents. Even if I never use it again, it was totally worth not having to hand-cut the layers. Plus I can edit or resize anything. I bought a template for a gift card holder and then edited it so I could cut the pieces out of different colors without wasting paper. I haven't replaced the blade yet. The cutting mats are taking some we're though. I ate a lot if paper at first but I eventually realized I wasn't getting a clean cut because it was set too deep. Once I lightened it up, things were much better.

Mine isn't 12x12 like the Cameo. I wanted 12x12 but couldn't justify the cost. But now I'm pretty happy with the size. They have a new machine now called the Portrait. Same heavy motor as the Cameo but smaller size. Seems like a good deal. Mine has the older motor but I figure Ill just cut what I want and if I burn out the motor, I'll just replace it with the new one. Only issue is its loud. The new one might be quieter though.

Thanks! This sounds perfect for me. I'm looking at the Cameo. Being able to do my own or buy cheap files when I'm lazy sounds perfect! And I'm sure some of the Cricut problem is completely me, but it's so unforgiving and trying to figure out how big one of the optional graphics in a set will be is so confusing, and so rigid.

I checked out the eCraft and was seriously considering it before I saw the Silhouette, but like you say, my issue is totally the software. As far as I could tell, I'd have to buy something like Sure Cuts a Lot to work with it in order to use all my galleries of clip art or whatever I design in Illustrator. And being on a Mac, it's so easy to have update/version issues with EVERYTHING. I LOVE my mac, but niche software is not ideal for it. I'm definitely going to check out the sites you mention. Thanks!! You just made me so much more excited to get it. Now if only Apple would ship my new computer.

Um, no! I'll be giving back the Cricut soon, but I'm sure my MIL would be into this. She has two Cricuts--the big one and the small one and only like 5 cartridges. Outside of the Disney ones (she gave me one for my bday), I exhausted her collection the second day! Thanks for posting!!

I have heard EE is really fun after dark. Not sure if they will do an extra showing of Nemo or FOTLK or not. I dont think the safari and trails have lights so that wouldn't be good. It's Tough to Be a Bug and Dinosaur are both indoors. The Tree of Life might have some lights on that would make it neat to see. Primeval Whirl and Triceratops Spin should still be running. I am just excited to see it after dark since the other parks have such a different feel after dark.
Me too! I honestly don't remember seeing anything but MK and EPCOT after dark. For sure not AK, and I really don't remember DHS after dark, either. We have never been in the winter before, so being the early-to-bed type I just haven't been at the parks at night. Or DTD.

We'll be at AK the same day! I want to try to ride EE in the dark before we have to bolt to EP for a R&C dinner. I also have seen a lot of really cool night shots of the environment in AK. Great ambient lighting there.
I bet it is! And I really love natural settings, it will probably be beautiful, and extra lovely at Christmas.

That is the one day I have late dinner plans at the YC (just DH & me at the Yachtsman :) ) so I'm excited.

Thanks! That's what I needed to know.

We have two places out in Eastern Long Island that do that. DH and I had done it the first 3 years of our marriage. Then went locally to pick out ones that were cut after DS was born. We've started going back East again in the last 2 years since DS is now older. We have a lot of fun doing that.

:rotfl2:
We are lucky, we live about an hour from Forest Service land that's been previously logged, so we go buy a tag from the ranger station for $5, drive up to the mountains and walk around until we find our own. They never look as good as tree farm or artificial trees- kind of always look like Charlie Brown trees to be honest, but it's a family tradition since my Dad was little.

I'm sorry your little hoofies hurt. Hope you're all healed up for Disney!:thumbsup2

When do I get my Mickey Mail?????

I want it!!

Me too!! It wasnt Mickey mail, but my new Celebrations magazine came in the mail today. Yay!

Ok so have we established that throws are on Valerie? :lmao:

That's what I was afraid of! :rotfl2:

Hahaha. Yes and the next day too.

Where do you eat the next day? Which night are you doing the dessert party? We are the 17th. I really need a printout of everyone's schedule. :confused3

Unfortunately our schedule doesn't allow for AK after dark so we'll leave that for next time - our AK day, we have an ADR at DTD at 6pm.

Excited for you to see DHS after dark. In my opinion, its beautiful! My hubby and I could just wander around for hours after dark in DHS - the architecture of the 40's all lit up :goodvibes we love DHS!

Just in case anyone was wondering, I did not order anything today. I decided I really only wanted the holiday Mickey and Minnie. Didnt think they would sell out, so I thought I would wait and see if anything else comes out. Told DH about them and he just shook his head like I was crazy. No idea where he gets that idea. :confused3

We did AK last Jan when it was dark. I think it was before they cancelled EMH. Anyway, we did Safari and the animals during the day. Then after the park emptied out we did EE and Dino-Land. I remember DS did the Boneyard and all the carnival games. And DSis and I rode Dinosaur back to back and the second time we were the only ones on the ride.

I bought Santa Mickey on sale well after last Christmas.

Speaking of Celebrations .... whatever happened to that little Disney Village called Celebrations? It seems that since their first murder a couple of years back, you don't hear much about it. I know that there are tons of houses up for foreclosure at really cheap prices - 4 bedrooms for 100k. There is just listing after listing , its like everyone is moving out :confused3

You know, sometimes you are our Muppet Jungle Cruise Director and then other times you are one of the most calm and rational people on here. :upsidedow

I don't know how to multi-quote on the iPad, so I'll just try to remember what I was going to comment on:

My cat lived to be in her early 20's also!
I bought the fleece pull-overs also, just in case. We'll probably need them in the morning and when the sun goes down.

I bought SO MUCH STUFF at The Disney Store today! My husband flipped, but I told him some of them are Christmas presents. Besides the pj's for everybody, I bought:
Minnie Mouse fleece for me
Mickey fleece for DH
3 shirts for DH
2 shirts for me
Duffy in his Santa outfit for DD
My First Christmas Minnie Mouse for my niece
Merida ornament for DD
Perry the Platypus ornament for DS

I can't wait until our package comes! I'm glad I could contribute to the enabling today. :teeth:
