Your blade has been good for a year?!?I really don't know much about the Cricut, but when I borrowed it, I had to replace it and about 60 pages of cutting later (6x12), I replaced it because it ate 2 sheets of expensive paper. Maybe I was premature, but I didn't want to have to go to the store for more glitter cardstock if it ate more sheets.
I think you just sold me even more. And I hate the stupid cutting mats--you don't use one on your Silhouette, right? Only 25 or so full-page cuts and you have to replace the stupid mat. Also, I hate being forced to do layers like they want. I could save so much paper if I could control it. I'm sure some of it is operator error on my part, but even still.
Where are you taking your class? If I'm going to buy this machine, I definitely want to know how to use it well. I'm a whiz on InDesign and decent enough on Illustrator, so when I saw a clip with their software, I felt very comfortable. Thanks again for responding. I was feeling a little angsty about shelling out for a machine when I could deal with the MIL/SIL to borrow the Cricut, but since it would only take about 30 projects' worth of cutting mats and blades to cover the cost, and don't even get me started on the cartridges, I think it will be a good deal for me.
Mine uses a mat but Im not certain about the newer ones. i know the eCraft doesn't. but I wouldn't recommend that one. i had high hopes before it came out. The machine is supposedly great but their software was a total flop. And its just no good without the software.
Keri Bradford is the Silhouette queen. She has classes at JessecaSprague.com. I also saw a Tweet today about someone else doing a class - Creative Passions, maybe?
