PART THREE! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

Apparently I'm making up for the time lost on these threads today but now I want some opinions on my arrival day.

I had planned on doing DTD once we got there, our flight lands at 1:20pm so I was thinking at Pop by 3:30pm at the latest. We were going to have dinner at T-Rex, look around, do a little shopping, etc. Then I realized a lot of the reviews talked about how loud T-Rex is & decided my youngest would probably not do well. So, change of plan to Earl of Sandwich, yum!

But now I'm thinking maybe heading to the MK & having a QS dinner & looking around a bit. Granted it's a MVMCP night so the MK will close at 7pm. Would it even be worth it? Or should we stick to DTD?

With an early close I'm not sure MK would be worth it. What about popping over to HS or Epcot for a bit?

Well, I had to force myself to admit that a Christmas T-Shirt probably isn't very useful seeing as how it's normally around 40 for a high here in KC in December. Hopefully they'll have something like it in a sweatshirt at the parks.

I agree. You're going to get down there still wanting that sweatshirt, only it's 2012 dated so they'll be almost out of it and you'll spend WAY too much time trying to track one down in the right size and even if you find one it probably won't be on sale as cheap. Think of all the park time you can save just ordering it today

And why on Earth did you tell DH about the sale? Don't you know with shopping you always buy first and ask forgiveness later :lmao:

It's okay. He has already forgotten about the conversation, I'm sure. And I get home from work before him, so I can get the box disposed of and the shirts hanging in the closet before he has a clue. :rotfl2:

Your Christmas gift comment got me thinking and back on the site. There is a little art kit that my niece would love. Her favorite princesses are Belle and Aurora. There is a Cinderella kit, a Minnie kit, a Tink kit, a Merida kit, a Rapunzel kit and a princess kit--with Rapunzel, Pocahontas, Snow White, Ariel, Cinderella and Jasmine. Really???? I mean we are talking $8 so it's not that big of a deal. I just thought it was funny that her 2 faves were not on there at all. I might just get Minnie and avoid the princesses.

Well I am glad I gave you hope!

It weighs on me a lot... I guess because we want to move like yesterday - however need a few other things to line up to have less moving... So the next few months should be better.... We bought our house before the market tanked and its gone down in value and we have put $$ into it... Kinda stressful! However I know I am sadly not alone.

Hmmmm. Maybe have a plan A and a plan B. you can always add the day to your KTTW card later if you use a park day on arrival day.

Plan A can be to check into Pop, dump stuff into your room and head to MK. Since the park is closing at 7pm would you be able to do QS dinner at a resort after the MK if you snack around arrival time? Then you don't spend park time on food. Maybe the Contemporary? They have a decent QS and you can watch the monorail run through. Can walk or ride the monorail back to MK to catch a bus back to Pop.

Plan B can be DTD if you arrive later than expected or are otherwise too tired to hit MK

We had the opposite. The original plan was to rush over to AK. But now we are going to leisurely do DTD and then go to Epcot in the evening if we want. Crowds should be lower since it is a party night, but at 4:00 you will have the party goers start coming in. You could certainly get a few rides and dinner and see the Castle Lighting if you wanted. Will your son be upset to leave after just a couple hours?? Since you are doing QS either way, you could always keep it open and see how everyone feels after the travel. I know, "keeping it open" is like blasphemy to us planners. :rotfl2:

Hang in there! We waited a couple years for the planets to align job/money-wise for our last move. It was worth the wait. We are so happy now where we are. Good luck! :goodvibes:

That sounds like a good idea. Especially since we're planning on a QS meal either way. & that would only be 2 hours in the MK if we're lucky. Epcot is another good idea, lots of awesome QS to choose from there & not as limited on time.

Very true, open ended scares me! I'll just make 2 plans, lol!
We were doing just DTD because we were having to get up & leave the house at 5:00am to drive to the airport, 3 hours away! :headache: Then I had the bright idea to go up on Saturday night & stay in a hotel by the airport instead, so we can sleep a bit later.
I'm just torn on MK or Epcot. Honestly, we did the same last year & hit up Epcot, we were only there for an hour or 2 before the youngest fell asleep & we headed back to the hotel. :rolleyes1 So the short hours at MK is no huge deal.

Would anyone want to take a look at my plan and let me know what they think? I'm still trying to figure out the best time to book my partner's mermaid thingy at The Pirate's League.

I'm also not sure when we should do dessert at The Wave, the monorail bar crawl, and Wishes.

Updated long-rang forecasts are coming out this week.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/winter-forecast-snow-northeast-nyc/80787

Seems reasonable to assume we won't see a repeat of 2010.

I HOPE so, our last day was very cold.....really hoping for some nice sunny weather!.....also, without digging to hard into the boards, is there an app for iphone that will post what is covered and where as far as the DDP goes? never have we used the DDP and I get a bit confused when looking at the different places that post menus and so forth.....

wow, stepped away from the boards yesterday morning and come back and have a ton of pages to catch up on......

My grandmother was put into a rehab facility. On one hand, it's a relief as almost all of her 24 hour care seems to fall on me these days. On the other, kind of scary. But she's getting the care she needs that we can't really provide for her.

Anyway, now I'm refocusing on our trip now! 53 days to go! :cool1::thumbsup2

I was going thru our plans last night & have nothing to tweek! :scratchin:crazy2::faint: So, I've created things to fix, lol.
On our DHS day I have 3 TS booked. I've got H&V in the morning, Sci-Fi in the afternoon & 50's that evening. Too much. So, I'm thinking drop the lunch ADR. Which would you pick for dinner, 50's or Sci-Fi? I'm leaning towards Sci-Fi because I want a big burger! But at 50's you can get a shake as your drink with the DDP, right? Ugh, decisions, decisions.

Any thoughts on Fantasmic? I know last year they added a 2nd showing almost every night at 8pm. Think they'll do the same this time around? I know they added some to November but not for the whole month. Trying to decide which show we'd want to go to & what time we should do dinner.

& last, my 16 year old did decide to come with!! ::yes:::rotfl2: Start the scramble to make the dogs a kennel reservation! It is such a good thing I kept all of the party of 6 ADRs! :scared:

So glad you can focus on the trip only because you obviously deserve it. I hope there isn't any drama in the family over this because I know that can happen where there is one person primarily responsible. Do you think she is in a good facility? I remember going through that with my MIL and it was a nightmare.

12/19 is supposed to be a better day to see Wishes because everyone will rush to see it on Monday 12/17. I vote for dessert at the Wave that night too. Do you have any ADRs that day?
What are you doing after BOG on 12/18?? That might be a good night for the monorail bar crawl or 12/14. I say schedule the Pirates Makeover for 12/14. Then figure out if she wants to be dressed as a mermaid for DTD or the bar crawl and do one that night and the other on 12/18.

 Its been tough for a lot of people, trust me I really know what you are going through .... just remember, the light IS at the end of the tunnel x

Wow, but I actually like that one better than the blue ones they have had for a few years now. I looked at the one with the places for pictures but wow, you don't get enough pages for us.

Yea I actually am very fond of these, there are definitely enough pages, the one pictured was actually DH's and I have mine as well.

I like the picture ones too tho in a couple years I will make her one or maybe for when she is 3.

I understand and I am sure it will work out for the better in the end. :thumbsup2

It is a good facility. It's the same one my great grandmother was in after she broke her hip. The only thing that concerned us this time is no phones in the patient's rooms, that struck us as kind of odd. Took her cellphone to her, so we can still get in touch or she can get in touch, whichever. I hope it does her well.
There's always drama in my family, always. I'm the one who is expected to drop everything anytime someone needs something. I just ignore the drama part, do what I can & know I do my best.

That makes a lot of sense! We do have a super early breakfast at 'Ohana on the 15th, but I could use our later ADR and just take it easy that morning, too, since we have a second Epcot day on the 16th.

ETA: I actually have a very early 'Ohana ADR for the 16th, too, so that would be an option. Haha!

Good for you! :thumbsup2

Meh, I treat family drama like a movie - I just observe it and it allow it to entertain me. Whilst they are flapping and gobbing off I'm eating popcorn :teeth: Its really rather therapeutic ;)

:moped:
You give me hope for selling our house! Except we are waiting for spring and giving the outside a painting... I just hope our house sells for enough.

Right now, here it is a seller's market too. Very few houses on the market around us. Plus interest rates are so low. I think the housing market will stay good for awhile and Spring is always best.
