So my grandma isn't crazy? :lmao: She also says "tinky bit", as in a small amount or a little bit of something. And when she takes a picture she says "Say fuzzy pickles" instead of "Say cheese".

Just to bring it back to Disney. Grandma and grandpa have been to all 50 states, but they have never been to any Disney park.

Ummmm, well thats a bit crazy

:lmao: :p

I'm real southern - genetics and environment (think my grandma still lives on the family land - not in an antebellum house though, it was burned by Sherman) and we say purse. BUT my aunt, (same family) who lived in NC for years and year, she says pocketbook.

Toboggan's are called "'boggans" around here, granted we only need them maybe once every 2 or 3 years and they are knit hats you wear on your head.

 Naughty Sherman tsk tsk *folds arms*

Whereabouts is your family from?

*sings* Goooooood Morning!

The morning was dark & crisp and yet again we have another busy day ahead of us guys ..... talking Disney & counting down those months, weeks, hours. Life is good :goodvibes

I really need to finish off my tri-fold. Its a regular sheet of paper, folded brochure style with our schedule and must-do's. I wanted to do this as it will fit in everyones bag or even pocket, plus, having a huge binder kinda makes the trip intimidating

However, I do want to take a small binder with photo album pages so I have pockets to organise all paperwork & tickets that have to be taken (PP+ voucher, La Nouba, MVMCP, print out of ADRs from WDW site etc etc).

Ooh yay - more coffee :goodvibes

I have almost finished my .pdf :) Has all the info I need and I can email to my phone. It is however on one sheet maybe when I'm home later I can post it! I will however be bringing some sort of file for PP+, tickets, car rental info etc.... I was almost thinking one of those coupon type holders?

So there is a decent DVC discount on La Nouba tickets - I want to go again but maybe I should hold off for our October trip...

Excellent idea! Thats what I shall look for.

Here's my checklist of what I need to take - please tell me if I'm forgetting anything!!

Print out of ADRs from WDW site
Receipts for MVMCP tix & Photopass +
Photopass + voucher to claim our card
MVMCP tix
La Nouba tix
Reservation confirmation letters
Mickey Mail (if I ever get it )

The BAD news is the reason for his early return - we live in Abaco, Bahamas and we've started having some really windy, rainy weather in the last few days, which will get worse as the week progresses because Tropical Storm Sandy is coming towards us...should be here by Friday or Saturday:headache:

Just pray that it goes a bit east of us out to sea!!!

Lets not forget our friend discookiemonsta!

Sandy is on track to go right through the Bahamas this morning.

Sandys predicted path

Thinking of you and your family discookiemonsta! Be safe :grouphug:

I agree with the toboggan on their head :rotfl: Never heard of that. We did call a couch a davenport but usually we called it a divan. I don't know where that came from. We always called a purse a pocketbook. It's kind of amazing how different parts of the country call things by different names, isn't it?

ha ha makes me laugh. my parents say davenport or sofa(but refer to the formal-no kids allowed-area).....some will say lid for a hat......reminded me of when we went to Cali and they asked us if we needed a "bag" and we were like???. oh we say sack.....

Oh and by they way, it is SNOWING in NW Iowa right now! makes me think we are closer than we are for Disney.....but still reminds me of why we like it down there so much--It's Cold here today!

My great- grandmother always used those terms too.

All these regional sayings reminds me of where I am from - London - I am sure you have all heard of Cockney Rhyming Slang? Here's a few

Dustbin lids = kids
Whistle & Flute (whistle for short) = suit
Tom Foolery (Tom for short) = Jewelry; ex. "nice bit of Tom you have there"
Apples & Pears = Stairs
Butchers Hook = Look; ex. "Take a butchers at THAT" when you want someone to look at something
Dog & Bone = phone
Trouble & Strife = wife
Jack Jones = on your own ex. "I'm all on my Jack Jones"

Thats just a few off the top of my head .... and yes, we do use it although since living here, I only use it at home now.

I'm in Milwaukee, and it's still in the 70's here, but you're on the back end of the front headed towards us and it's supposed to be in the 30's and low 40's tomorrow. Trick or treating on Saturday will be close to freezing.... BRRRR!:(

Good Thursday morning roll callers. You guys are a very talkative bunch. I've tried to keep up but for the last 10 days I have been dealing with a health issue that I thought was going to force us to cancel our Disney trip. But, thankfully, I received a call from my doctor yesterday that every thing is ok! :cheer2: Is it sad/crazy that my first thought through this ordeal was that I didn't want my children's and husband's lives turned up side down and my second thought was "oh no, we may have to cancel Disney?"

Now, I have so much planning/thinking/dreaming about the trip to catch up on. And, I certainly need to get my shopping on so I can keep up with all the enablers on this thread! ;) Of course our final payment is due on Tuesday, so DH might prefer that I not start a shopping marathon, but oh well. I need a new pair of shoes to switch out with my Nikes, and I am really wanting this cute little Coach crossbody bag, and we really need another large suitcase because I think I will need to pack more of a variety of clothes this time because of weather fluctuations.

I also need to start getting cute little Disney things to put in my dd's bags that we will give them when we surprise them with the trip. I want to wake them up on the morning that we leave and tell them Santa came early and left them each a present. Then give them a gift with the plane tix, Disney gc, and some other little things. DH wants to tell them the trip is from us for Christmas. Guess he wants to get all the credit!:santa:

Glad the health issues turned out okay!!!! I think it would be okay to get that final payment done before you start the shopping. We will be happy to continue the enabling next week. :thumbsup2

Try living in New England where we have multiple sayings for the same thing. And it could be anything and any walk of life. Just look at trying to order lunch. Have you ever heard the expression that the Eskimos have 100 different words for snow? We have the same thing for sandwiches.

"Could I have a hoagie, sub, foot-long, grinder, hero, etc..."

When you start getting into clothes....... Whoooo hoooo hoooo... There could be fighting words involved if you use the wrong term.

And don't forget... In the English language, here in Boston, "R" is a movie rating, not a letter of the alphabet.

:surfweb: Good Morning Dis Buddies!

So, I got onto the computer this morning, checked my email and was immediately distracted by a Zappos sale. Ended up ordering 2 pairs of Merrells to try before the trip since my old pair is shot. I don't understand it, I wear them every day, all day during the summer for 3 years straight and they just fall apart. Nothing lasts anymore

I also may have ended up ordering 2 pairs of corduroy slacks, but those I can at least convince myself I bought for work and not what is shaping up to be the most expensive 4 day vacation ever. :upsidedow

Happy to hear that there isn't a health issue!

I'm trying not to buy too much before we go. I did buy an extra battery and a larger memory card for my camera. Plus the shirts (and a pin) from Disney Store. I really want to buy a new pair of comfy shoes.

Happy Thursday! Tomorrow is our 45 Days!

Super glad your health scare has been all cleared up! I don't blame you for freaking out about possibly having to cancel the trip. Sometimes with scares like that you kind of have to freak out over the "little" things to keep from totally losing your mind dwelling on all the "what-ifs".

Sounds like you have lots of shopping to do! And it sounds like you really DESERVE that Coach bag after your medical problems ;)

LOL! You sound like a friend of ours. When we went over her house during Christmas, you would see a tree in every room, including the bathroom.

I would love to have a tree in the kitchen too - it would be decorated with fruits and berries and natural twine... I just love that look... but no, don't think I'd have one in the potty... I can just imagine sitting there, doing the deed, and trying to rearrange ornaments and such... too distracting! :rotfl:

I've been oogling those "bohemian" ornaments too! I'm having a 4' prelit tree in our resort room. If I buy it here I'll probable figure out how to pack it otherwise I'll get it from Walmart dot com and have it sent to POR. Then I'll prob just donate it to someone coming after me. I'm going to have to get a good look at them at Walmart first. They're $20. I always buy a couple of the Halmark Disney ornaments every year. My fav has been the It's a Small World one :)

That's a great idea to pass the tree on to someone else! How thoughtful! I'm still trying to decide what I'll do in terms of decorating for our room. We're staying at the DTD Hilton so I think I'm just going to stick to some lights and maybe a small table top tree? If we were there for more than 4 days I'd go with a bigger tree but we won't be in the room very much... :rolleyes2

on a different note... did you all see the new D&B Collection? An email came out this morning... I can see this cute design showing up under many trees this season!

Ha! :rotfl:

I can relate to that ... I also understand Northerners better than Southerners, our pronunciation is very similar.

I am trying very hard NOT to think about that new D&B Collection. I got the email too and I love, Love, LOVE it. SOOOO don't need another Disney D&B though. I just bought another one during our DL trip in April!
