Good Thursday morning roll callers. You guys are a very talkative bunch. I've tried to keep up but for the last 10 days I have been dealing with a health issue that I thought was going to force us to cancel our Disney trip. But, thankfully, I received a call from my doctor yesterday that every thing is ok! :cheer2: Is it sad/crazy that my first thought through this ordeal was that I didn't want my children's and husband's lives turned up side down and my second thought was "oh no, we may have to cancel Disney?"

Glad to hear that!

Lets not forget our friend discookiemonsta!

Sandy is on track to go right through the Bahamas this morning.

Sandys predicted path

Thinking of you and your family discookiemonsta! Be safe :grouphug:

Sending pixie dust to you and your family discookiemonsta! pixiedust:

Oh and by they way, it is SNOWING in NW Iowa right now! makes me think we are closer than we are for Disney.....but still reminds me of why we like it down there so much--It's Cold here today!

:scared1: SNOW??? Beautiful 80 degrees here in NC - going to get colder tho

All these regional sayings reminds me of where I am from - London - I am sure you have all heard of Cockney Rhyming Slang? Here's a few

Dustbin lids = kids
Whistle & Flute (whistle for short) = suit
Tom Foolery (Tom for short) = Jewelry; ex. "nice bit of Tom you have there"
Apples & Pears = Stairs
Butchers Hook = Look; ex. "Take a butchers at THAT" when you want someone to look at something
Dog & Bone = phone
Trouble & Strife = wife
Jack Jones = on your own ex. "I'm all on my Jack Jones"

Thats just a few off the top of my head .... and yes, we do use it although since living here, I only use it at home now.

My grandparents came from England and would use some of those - especially if they didn't want us younger kids to know what they were talking about. Do you suppose that is why is started originally? :confused3

Try living in New England where we have multiple sayings for the same thing. And it could be anything and any walk of life. Just look at trying to order lunch. Have you ever heard the expression that the Eskimos have 100 different words for snow? We have the same thing for sandwiches.

And don't forget... In the English language, here in Boston, "R" is a movie rating, not a letter of the alphabet.

:lmao: When I moved from New Bedford MA to Buffalo, NY my freshman English teacher used to make me stand up and say "I pahked the cah for a quatah" Funny for everyone except me.

Hey everyone, it's me again :goodvibes

Well, now it looks like Sandy is coming straight for us and is now forcasted to be a category 1 hurricane:sad2: I'm so upset about it, but so thankful I have my husband home with me. I may or may not lose power tomorrow so I'll check in with you all, if at all possible!

Wishing you the best with Sandy. Here in S. Florida, we are supposed to get some of the wind and rain bands (well we are already) but to intensify later. Hoping all is safe with you guys. Please keep up poster.

I hope so. This a dream job for me, and I'm ready for a change!
Crossing my fingers for you!! I agree with a PP who mentioned a hand written thank you note.

So glad it all worked out with your health issue and your Disney trip is still on. Wishing you much health! :goodvibes

I am trying very hard NOT to think about that new D&B Collection. I got the email too and I love, Love, LOVE it. SOOOO don't need another Disney D&B though. I just bought another one during our DL trip in April!

I love the backpack and the balloon print. I just don't need a new purse (or pocketbook!)

I think with all the cat talk today we need a song...

Soft kitty,
Warm kitty,
Little ball of fur.
Happy kitty,
Sleepy kitty,
Purr, purr, purr.

Bah hah hah hah!! I adore that show. DH commented the other day that we like Big Bang so much because a lot of it is true. I mean, we did flag down a car with a lightsaber the other day.

It was me! It took two hours! Which put me running behind all day, so I'm just getting back here. It went well, I think. I felt like I did a great job and got a lot of positive feedback. They only picked four to interview. Ack, now the wait!

Fingers crossed for you!

No-one is entirely sure exactly why it came about but it is supposed it was to confuse others - maybe it started amongst traders in the marketplace, or amongst criminals to confuse the police, or to confuse non-locals (those from outside of London) and create a sense of community.

But I'm sure thats why your grandparents used it ;)

Just wanted to say I hope that Sandy***** falls apart and stays away from land!

Congrats on the good news from the doctor, God bless us all and get us to WDW safe & sound and may all of our vacations be merry! pixiedust:

Just saying. :beach:

Have a wonderful day disers from sunny So. Cal

I like the balloon print too. And I also do not need a new purse!!! And they cost too much to be able to hide it from DH. :goodvibes

This made me spit out my coffee. :lmao:

An hour and a half with nothing?? Where is everyone?? I know ksromack is out of service and discookiemonsta is in a hurricane. No one else has an excuse. No, work is not an excuse. :lmao:

Ok, roll callers, I'm working today and won't be able to be on the boards until the kids go to resource. Keep it down now.

Tomorrow we're going to a cabin with no wifi or cell service. Wanna hedge bets on how many pages I'll have to catch up on Sunday night?

Ok, I'm game and will say 50.

Sorry, I got busy with work and browsing other areas of the forums..

Will it be warm enough to swim when I'm there? I know the pools are heated but I hate being cold and wet.

My boss sent an email to my group to see if anyone has time tomorrow to do a project. I volunteered. I thought I should probably do something to earn my paycheck!!

I thought I'd better clear up the house a bit - Disney has kinda become a priority :lmao:

I'm pretty much done although my front room is still trashed, but thats DD's job when she gets home! I'm one of those crazy Mums (I make other Mums twitch) because I've always welcomed my DD getting everything out and just playing real hard, you're only a kid for short time! .... currently there are 5 of those barbie fold out houses, roads made from cardboard, cars, an RV, barbie dolls, monster high dolls and a Barbie closet explosion - it started off looking like a really nice neighbourhood, now it looks like the rough end of town :rotfl:

Must vaccuum next - oh the excitement :rolleyes2

Last year we went the second week of December and it was high 70s everyday and hit 80 two of the days. It got cooler at night, but we never put on long sleeves. But in 2010, people wore coats and gloves during that same week. The normal says high in the 70s and lows in the 50s. I know all of that was very helpful!! :confused3
