If you don't have enough points to cover an entire night or reservation, can you pay part with points and part with cash?

Or, for example, if you wanted to book the cruise line, could you pay for one guest with points and the other with cash?

I know I could borrow points if I want, but I was wondering if it is an option to make reservations combining points and cash for the same room.

Thanks!

You can't book the same night some points/some cash. But you can book some nights cash, some nights points, you just can't split the individual nights. Use the cash for weekend nights.

You can book the cruise 1 person cash/1 person points.

Would you do everything (that is-both points and maybe weekend nights cash) through member services with one phone call? Or do you have to call a separate number then for the cash portion of a reservation? In other words, is it really two separate reservations? Or can you combine cash/points on the same reservation in the cases mentioned above.

Thanks!

MS will book it all for you that way your reservations are linked together.

If the 25% member discount is available for your cash nights, MS will do it for you and link the reservations. We did this in May. Fri, Sat member discount, Sun-Thur nights points. We got keys for the entire week at check-in. If the member discount is not available, then you can check with CRO, they sometimes have non-points inventory available.

ALWAYS check with CRO when you are thinking about booking a room with cash, especially if you have an AP. Rooms thru CRO may be discounted, while the discount may not be available thru MS. Last Christmas I got a one bedroom thru CRO discounted by 1/2, while there was no discount at all thru MS.

If you go through CRO, would you have to change rooms during your stay?

Probably not, but they will not guarantee it. On those 2 nights I booked in May, I would have saved $20 a night by going with the AP rate but decided to just go with the member rate to make it easier. They will guarantee it with the member rate, plus you don't have to check-out, check back in.

One thing to watch when booking through CRO - make sure you book the same room type, not just the same size. For example, if your points reservation is a 2 bedroom dedicated, make sure your CRO reservation is also, otherwise it's more likely you will have to move. BCV also has 2 bedrooms with different types of beds (2 queens vs 1 queen/1 sofabed), make sure they match.
