It was the best of trips, it was the worst of trips.
(okay, so my open is stolen  )

The Foley family finally made its twice-postponed, long-awaited premier journey to Walt Disney World. It is now my pleasure to bring you the highs, the lows and the in-betweens of what could have been a more magical trip, but it could have been worse, too.

Wednesday April 28th- Leaving for FL
Our flight was in two parts; from Providence to Baltimore and then on to Orlando. On the first leg of the trip we met Lance. Lance is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines, and he loves his job. You can tell this by the way he went about his job. Now I know that many flight attendants have taken to making the pre-flight speech about the exits and potential water landings more entertaining, but Lance has brought it to new heights (NPI).

After Lance had introduced the other two flight attendants as his "..ex-wife and my new girlfriend" (although I could not get him to tell me which was which) he informed us to put on our own masks before those of our children. Further qualifying this by telling those with more than one child to "...decide which one has the most potential and put his or her mask on first."

When we were cleared for takeoff, Lance announced this fact to us as part of a stirring parody of Heartbreak Hotel, complete with tissue-scarf, which he gave to the very excited passenger in 4D.

As we went from plane to plane in Baltimore we saw another flight headed back to Providence and joked about just getting on that flight and heading back home... if we had only known..........

Getting out of Baltimore proved to be quite a task. We were stuck on the ground for over an hour because the aft lav (or in layman's terms, the potty in the back of the plane) had a faulty gasket and was leaking pretty bad. When they finally figured this out, they decided to replace a second gasket in the same place before sending us on our way. At least now the toilet worked ;)

When we FINALLY got to MCO we picked up our bags and headed to the rental desk to get our car. We had gotten a great deal from Alamo, and I am a loyal Alamo customer thanks to an incident two years ago in Cally, so when we got to the rental area I was quite dismayed to see that only one of the companies had a line longer than two or three people. Can you guess which one? Say it with me... "ALAMO!" One hour and nine minutes of line time later, we were on our way.

Our hotel- Don't get me started on our hotel. I won't tell you which one it was, but it rhymes with Haul Away Sin, pain hate beast (htf the Beast). We didn't notice any of the problems with the Beast right away, but they would make themselves panifully obvious as the week went on.

Thursday April 29th- the Magic Kingdom

This turned out to be, by far, our best day. Hot and muggy, but we were in DisneyWorld, so it seemed more bearable. Besides, we're used to heat and humidity, just not until June or July. So we pressed on.

The highlight of the day was PhilharMagic.. We were in the front row, which can be bad in 3-D, but it was still an awesome show. I also enjoyed the Hall of Presidents (but DW Tricia nearly fell asleep). Two observations about the HOP... One, why is there a portrait of Ben Franklin there? Two, I'm worried about the placement of two of them... Clinton is right behind GWB. What if the robot Clinton takes a swing at GWB? Good thing Nixon and Bush Sr. have Dubya's back :)

Another joy was seeing my son John interact with all the characters. He was shy at first, but they did a great job of helping him open up. By the time we had gotten to Crystal Palace for dinner he was 100% into the character thing. The food was good and we had a great waiter (I think his name was Robert), but seeing John with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore was just awesome. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Unfortunately, this is where it went downhill, and fast.

TO BE CONTINUED...........

LOL!!!:hyper: Love your report.

Of course I'd be more concerned over Nixon & LBJ getting into a cat fight, but that's just me! ;)

Great report! :) You wouldn't believe how long I sat here trying to figure out what rhymes with "Haul away sin"!!! LOL :hyper:

Sounds like a good first day. I know what's coming up, though :(
