This was my first split stay and first stay as DVC owner.

Part 1 - Poly Island Tower Studio 5/21 to 5/25
Initial Impression:
We loved OG Poly visit last year which made us buy into DVC. Had much higher expectation with Island Tower. The first impression on check in was.... underwhelming to say the least. We missed the whole OG Poly vibe. Rooms were good, still had decent theme (minus tiki/poly vibe). The quality of the room seemed lower than OG poly imo. The door handles were loose, thermostat had issues initially and the chair was wobbly.
Pool:
Moana kids splash pad was too small for my 7 year old but my 3 year old enjoyed it. We went to Lava pool couple of days (tip: If you want chairs, go early (right when they open) or at around 3 (when family who came in the morning leave)) and both my kids LOVED the kids splash pad area. Poly seemed crowded on all days.
Food & drink:
We had dining plan at this stretch of my trip and did 4 character dining and had most of our food at theme parks. Did not try Wailulu bar in our trip (I think its a mistake and we should have tried). Captain Cooks was crowded most of the time. Their fountain drink smelled bad (as if the water used came directly from sewage, lol). We refilled our drinks at the refill station near the island tower pool and did not have any issues with the odor. Kona cafe was amazing. We walked to VGF and had food at Gasparilla Island Grill one day. It was nice to have short walk to VGF and have some good options.
Transportation:
Monorail is THE BEST mode of transportation for our family in WDW. We rope dropped MK and learned that Monorail station at MK does not open till 7:30 a.m. (one hour before the early entry time). Plan accordingly. We walked back from MK to Poly once and the total walk time was 24 minutes. Did not try Boat or Bus from Poly.
Overall :
Wife says she likes OG Poly better than tower. Kids loved Lava pool than tower pool. If we do another stay at poly (and if its Studio), I will opt for OG longhouses.

Part 2 - AKL - 1br Savanna view Jambo House 5/26 to 5/28
Initial Impression:
This is the first stay for our family at AKL and the Savanna view was AMAZING !!! Stayed at Zebra trail overlooking Uzima Savanna. saw Giraffe every day and kids loved it.
Pool:
Uzima pool was good and we did not go to Kidani pool so not sure if that was better or not.
Food:
Food options here were the best imo. If we ever do staycation again, AKL will be our top choice.
Transportation:
With two kids and a double stroller, I hated the bus transportation. Having to fold the stroller is the most dreading thing I faced during the trip. imo, AKl is great for Staycation and if you dont have double stroller.
Overall :
AKL is one and done for us. I dont think we will stay here again.

Part 3 - BWV - 1br Boardwalk view 5/29 to 6/2
Initial Impression:
OMG, I was blown away by BWV. LOVED the theme, Liked the proximity to EPCOT and short boat ride to HS. I requested for a 5th floor room and ended up with floor 2 awayyyy from Lobby (Room number 2011). It was a long walk from Lobby, but the view was worth it. Something to keep in mind that we had balcony with wall so you have to stand up to see the boardwalk. If you sit on a chair in the balcony, all you see is a wall :D Kind of a bummer.....
Pool:
Did not get to the pool
Food:
Wished BWV had more QS options. We cooked during this part of our stay and having 1br with full kitchen made is super easy.
Transportation:
LOVED the short walk to EPCOT. Warning: EPCOT early entry took almost 35+ minutes for us to get in. There were 4 lines (two for people with stroller, one for AP exclusive). We spent all our early entry time waiting in line. Boat ride to HS was nice and we could walk in 8-10 minutes.
*We had our ac quit working on day 3. I called and had a technician in 5 minutes. Spent an hour and it was fixed.
Overall:
We will def be back to BWV. I am currently looking to add some points from BWV since we all enjoyed it so much.

In my 2 week trip, EVERY SINGLE CAST MEMBER interaction was AMAZING. They really go above and beyond. Cast members are THE disney difference and they made my family's stay magical.

We love split stays, especially during our 'alone' visits. This year we'll have SSR, BWV, and BRV. I think in May we may do Poly and BLT.
I agree with most of your opinions, besides AKL. However, we don't have kids, so we only worried about scooters and with the new bus refurbs, didn't have any issues with that. LOVED AKL Kidani and plan to stay there again (especially during hurricane season as I really enjoy having underground parking). We always try to plan part of our stay at BWV or BC due to proximity and walking to parks, and the fact we always buy PHs we can monorail to MK also from Epcot.
So happy you had a great time! Thanks for sharing!

I think 3 day stay in AKL with two park days made our experience bad. I should stay in Kidani for a longer stay in future and give another try. I feel like AKL will be a great stay-cation resort. Your plan is perfect !! BWV/BC proximity to EPCOT and HS cant be beat. I am in ROFR waiting for Disney to add BWV points. I am already planning my next trip. Going in Dec 2026. I am planning for 6 days BLT and 6 days BWV. Can't wait !!!

We felt almost the same as you. Underwhelmed by Poly tower (didnt stay only visited)
We stayed savanna view at AKV then moved to Boardwalk and fell head over heels in love w/ Boardwalk. We loved the animals but that is all we loved about AKV and likely wont stay again.

We’re doing our second ever split stay in a few weeks. We’re going to VGF and Riv. My wife and I love BWV too and we own at Poly as well. Great write up!

Enjoy and have a magical trip !!! For my next trip, I am planning to stay at either VGF (bucket list to stay) or BLT (Home resort but never stayed here). 2026 December… Here I come…

BWV has some special vibe for sure. Can’t wait to enjoy BWV again next December.

We did a Poly Tower tour recently and while I did love the rooms and Wailulu I think there's some things Disney really dropped the ball on. It hasn't been opened a year yet and the carpeting and upholstery in the lobby already looks worn and dirty. The big open air lanais were a beautiful concept except for the absolutely tacky fake plants and flowers that were already faded and looking bad. I don't know why they chose fake flowers instead of real greenery but it looks awful. No outlets or charging stations in these areas either. The pool area with no slide or even a decent splash pad area was also underwhelming but nice as a quiet pool. It feels like a rush job without the usual thoughtful finishes I come to expect from a Disney property let alone a $235 per point DVC property. I didn't see a community hall or activity board so I'm assuming you have to go to the OG Poly for that stuff. We're still considering buying there since it's the last of the unrestricted resorts and you have full booking and availability at the OG Poly but now that the excitement over the tower has died down a bit I think its a bit disappointing for the cost

Yes Disney has really done themselves a financial disservice by not putting in high quality materials like they used too. These rooms just like VDH will not hold up nearly as long.

No community hall in the tower. If I am not mistaken, there is no community hall in the OG Poly either. They have a lot of activities in Grand Ceremonial hall or pool area, but I dont remember seeing a hall like BWV or AKL. I 100% agree with your take. The quality is not there in the tower and def. looks like a rushed job.

They'll have done us all a financial disservice if the place ends up looking like a beat up Quality Inn in 5 years time.
Hoping it does not happen but not looking good so far. Certain aspects of the rooms already looks like its 10 years old.

That's too bad about no community hall. Every Disney property should have one IMO. It's a pretty low effort way to give kids some quiet activities to enjoy away from the hustle and bustle of the pools and lobbies .

Sounds like a great trip. Two way split stays stress me out, I can’t imagine 3 resorts! I agree with the assessment of the tower. It’s underwhelming and doesn’t fit in with the rest of the resort. I own at Poly and have no desire to ever stay in the tower. I love the original resort though. We’ve always just gotten 2 studios since we couldn’t do a 2 br there and we’ll continue to do that. AKL is beautiful but I agree that the transportation isn’t great, and it’s so far from everything. BWV is one of my favorites too. Cant beat the location. But the lack of quick service options is a problem.
