PART FOUR!! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

Hi all!

18 days until I go back to WDW! I'm so excited!

We're already packing and planning for this getaway, and of course we're doing MVMCP on Sunday, December 2.

If I recall correctly from last year, they light the castle with all the twinkle lights at the beginning of the evening, prior to official MVMCP events. Does anyone know what time this happens? I don't think it's during the "Celebrate the Season" show at 7:45. It happens prior to that, as I recall talking to people who were NOT staying for MVMCP but stayed a little longer to watch the castle lights turned on.

Thanks! I hope you're all having as much fun counting down to your trips as I am!

Mike.
:santa:

Not much left to plan...just time to counting down the days...26 days to go!!!
Looking forward to getting through this week before getting TOO much more excited! DBF just came back from Philly and is headed to DC for the end of the week. I'll be alot more excited once he is back from DC...we'll be ready for Thanksgiving and then it'll be time to start packing!!! In the meantime, on our one day off together we took the kids into Boston...walked through the Public Garden and the Northend. The kids are not very photogenic...

There really is nothing more relaxing and fun than feeding the ducks and geese. BDLsgal and I feed them along the Charles River, behind the Mariott in Auburndale, Newton. We actually discovered that when a goose gets agitated, it can hiss like a snake. I never knew that before.

PS: It must be a Boston thing with men. I occassionally "moosh" BDLsgal in the occassional photo op. :)

17 days for us! :thumbsup2

We're actually having Winter-ish weather here today. We're in the high 40's today! That's winter weather for us south TX folks...

But it definitely brings on the Christmas holiday feeling...

For all you Sirius radio people - Christmas music is now playing on the holiday stations... :santa:

Depending on sun-down anytime between 5.45 & 6.15 each evening is what I'm reading :)

Awww, you're so close...and we'll be there at the same time...some of our days overlap, we're there from 12/9-15th, staying at FW! Love POR but, we won't fit unless we rent two rooms! I started reading your PTR...loved the ending of your prior trip! DBF has hinted more than once while he was away this weekend that he wants to make things "official" and that if we hadn't planned this trip...he could have made it that way at Christmas. I keep reminding him that we'll be at MK for MVMCP at 12, on 12/12/12 and we don't need a ring! There could be nothing more magical than a proposal in front of the castle at Christmas!!! I love the Mickey ring idea!!!:thumbsup2 Looking forward to reading more of your PTR and hearing about your plans!
We weren't actually feeding those ducks...the kids sat down and they must have thought they were going to get fed as they all came swimming right up to us! Oops...although none of them hissed at us! That'd be a little freaky...the squirrels were crazy enough!

Not to make light of your situation, but when I was laboring, this is how I got laid off. We had a canteen truck come to the shop every weekday. And if you worked there long enough, you could buy stuff on account. 1 morning, the canteen truck guy goes "Ok, Sean. You owe $xx." I said sure but I was a little surprised. It was a Wed and settlement day was always on Fri. So I asked him why I had to settle that day. He said "Well, this is your last day. XXXXX told me that you were laid off."

I found out I was laid off from the canteen truck guy. I found out that the boss tends to take days off on lay-off days. On the plus side, he felt bad about breaking the news to me, that after I settled, he told me I could have whatever I want and he was going to put it on the boss' account.

:scared: that is low down and rude! Shows the difference between "manager" an d "leader" chicken.

I have gotten some ADORABLE stuff from the DISigners this trip! I heart them! Certainly adds some pixiedust:

I had some things done for DDs birthday too- it really personalized her princess party. It was so great!

Wow, time really creeps up on you!

Its DD's birthday next week (Wednesday) so I need to get that sorted! We're are going to lunch at the American Girl store (honestly, I tried to deny all knowledge of that place and tell her it was just a vicious rumour but what with schools teaching them how to read and whatnot she was able to confirm it for herself HA!). She wanted to go on her actual birthday but her grandparents can't get the time off work what with Thanksgiving .... she is a real family girl and won't go without them. So, I'll have to book it for the Saturday after and think of something else to do her on birthday thats a bit special (but cost conservative cuz the AG shop is gonna take me for everything I got  ).

my DD is 10, and loves the AG store....we too, get taken-she hits me up and then makes a second round with dad and hits him up for the things I passed over! good thing the closest store is 3+ hrs from us! She has even asked why there isnt one in Orlando-then says that "everyone goes there" I am sure after our xmas at Disney(she is hoping to find the doll clothes there this trip) we will also be making a bday trip north to our store in Feb.....

You're lucky - we have one 40mins away

Ugh - can not stand people like that. Poor canteen guy!!

I can't believe she is going to be 12!

Both my dd's are AG fiends! DD7 really wants Caroline for X-mas (even though she just got McKenna for her b-day in September) but SURPRISE she is going to Disney instead! pixiedust: I don't think she will be disappointed.

So insurance adjuster is going to look at our car tomorrow :scared: Hopefully today we can actually talk to the insurance company and see if we can get reimursed for a rental. I am kinda stressed - we have it at the dealership and do not know where we will end up getting it fixed - the car is 3 months old and I want it done right - but I don't want to pay more than the adjuster gives us.... We've never had to collect on our insurance before - so this process is new - kinda odd though - when we purchased the car a few months ago we debated a higher deductible and decided against it - very glad we did!!

I did make these little invites for my girls. Absolut_Mandy is the DISigner all I did was print, cut and glue!

The DISigners are great :) I want to try and do something for the hoop dee doo revue if I have time on my own so we shall see....

Those are adorable! I may need to look into doing some like this!

We are down to thirty-three days, which would be more exciting if I didn't have so much to do between now and then!

Wow, sounds like the title of a bad country song! Amazes me how little regard for peoples' lives others have...

Haha I "LOL'd" ;) it does though! When I was a supervisor - you knew performance wise where you stood - never a doubt. We never had to worry about "lay offs" - but I can't imagine not giving someone the respect they deserve. I always viewed my position that yes I was there to deliver results, meet metric etc, but my employees always deserved respect and consideration. When they talked about work around the dinner table I didn't want to be labeled poorly overall- whether they agreed or disagreed with my position and actions....

It is amazing how they can figure stuff like that out on their own. :rotfl2: I have never been to a store, but have seen the catalog. Sooooo cute and soooooo expensive.

That is awful and hilarious at the same time. I guess I can be thankful that mine was handled professionally.

We did buy my DD11 an outfit for the MVMCP...I'm placing bets as to whether or not she'll really put this on...

DBF and I in the public garden...take one...

Take two...

I hope your dd wears that dress...it's so cute.....and so are your photos!

Good luck with the insurance stuff! That's never fun but hopefully you'll get what you need.

Those cards are fantastic! I'm sure your DD will love them!

That is horrible! I'm sure that canteen guy felt so bad, but at least he gave you the food on your boss' account! :rotfl:

Good morning!! First day of unemployment and I was awake at 5:15. :confused3 But it gave DH a chance to apologize for his behavior last night and for us to actually talk about the situation instead of screaming at each other. I think I have convinced him that the world is not ending. His biggest issue is that I want to wait until after Disney to look for a job, but if we didnt have the trip planned, I would be looking today. I also want to give my friend time to see if she can hire me. I have another friend at a temp agency (which is how I got the last job), so I am really not worried. I think he is just jealous that I am not going to work today. :goodvibes
So still going to Disney and still waiting to know which week we are going. This is going to be a looooonnnnggg week.

You just plain have the BEST outlook possible given your situation. I'm sure you'll land on your feet!

I can't believe a new company just starting up in your area wouldn't need any admin help at all, so I'd imagine your friend probably won't have any trouble finding you a job, so I'd definitely wait that out until after the Disney trip. And if that doesn't work out, temp work is a great way to find a job and you get to feel out if the company is actually a good fit before you're stuck there forever. My half-sister started as a temp at the company she works for and now, 17 years later, she's still there and has been promoted several times!

And I'm sure hubby will come around. Men as a whole seem to have issues with blowing up at PEOPLE when they should be angry at the SITUATION.
