Ok now I am feeling guilty. Just talked to DH again. He has agreed to not hit the panic button until the first of the year. Also agreed to go to Disney (still dependent on his job). His request was to choose ADRs at lower priced places so the tip isnt so high. I said I would cancel Ohana for sure. Goodbye bread pudding. The guilt part is that we are staying at Pop. Free dining is for counter service. I paid to upgrade to regular dining. So I know I could downgrade and get that $200 back, which would pay for breakfast and extra snacks or whatever. DH has no clue about this. He thinks free dining was the regular. That was a detail that never got clarified. :goodvibes. Crap. As I type this, I know I am going to switch it. I am keeping Le Cellier though. And maybe Sanaa. :rolleyes1

Again, this is just more fodder for "needing" to plan a trip next year when things have gone back to normal and you're making more at your new, better job. "But honey, we didn't get to stay where we planned or eat anywhere we did." :goodvibes Plus, eating CS will just make for a more relaxed trip.

We want to take it to the dealer. It's brand new and I hear VW's can be tricky. I hope that they are an authorized repair center. DH was going to speak to them today about that and the rental. Another reason we want to stick with the dealer - the service manager is a part time employee of my DH and it would be comforting to have someone keeping an eye on it too...

I've never heard of a dealer's body shop that WASN'T an authorized repair center, and with a not-so-common car like a VW, I'd imagine a dealer's shop is one of the few places in town that would even be able to do the work on it, so hopefully this will be a pretty painless process for you.

When a bunch of hoodlums smashed my side mirror on my Jeep Commander not 2 months after I bought it I had to take it into the agency since it was still drive-able. The adjustor took one look at it, said "yep, that'll be more than your $100 deductable, I bet you want it sent back to your dealer." I said yes, they took the keys for my Jeep, handed me the keys to a rental they had waiting, I paid them the deductable and they took care of getting the car to/from the dealer and it only took them 2 days to fix.

HOPEFULLY your claim will go just as smoothly. Probably the adjustor just needs to take a look at your car to make sure it isn't so badly damaged they may need to total it (which it doesn't sound like it is).

I'd price out what the ADRs you want to keep will end up costing out of pocket if you drop the plan. You might end up ahead KEEPING the regular plan depending on how much you're going to end up spending for the ADRs you keep.

Holy moly I checked out for almost the entire month of October. I just now saw that I won the contest from leaven hopper and tofubeast. And hadn't checked my Pm. Thank you guys so much! And thanks everyone for the congratulations!pixiedust:

Yay you are back. It was such a downer when you weren't around to claim VICTORY!! We were all excited, but then the winner was no where to be seen!!

CONGRATS!

Forgot to mention that when I left my house this morning it was only 18 degrees outside. Brrr! It's too early for weather like this.

just a bit to the southwest of you, it was 23 outside and my kids complained it was cold in the house(it was set at 67)....my youngest said "If it has to be cold, it might as well snow", ya not ready for that yet!.....still, just went out for the mail and it was 54 out-not bad....in Feb. we would be out in shorts at that temp!, but for now, still feels cold!

Our Mickey mail came this morning. DD4 was home sick from school when it came. As we were driving to pick DS3 up from preschool, I said "Max will be so excited when he hears that we got mail from Mickey Mouse today." DD4 said "yeah, but not the real Mickey Mouse." I said "what do you mean?", and she said "That was the Fed Ex man who brought the mail, Mommy." :rotfl2: (Our Mickey mail was forwarded by a TA.) So apparently she thinks that I'm unobservant enough to mistake the Fed Ex man for Mickey Mouse.

That's funny! Anyone could mistake one for the other!?!:rotfl:

Will you get the full $200 back? Or will they keep some of it as a change fee? If they keep $50 (which is what I think the fee is), you might spend that $150 on ADRs you want to keep anyways...

I just realized I won't be seeing CELEBRATE THE MAGIC because the only night we are there will be for MVMCP. Bummer. I don't think I can squeeze MK in another night. sob sob

Am I the only 1 that IMMEDIATELY flashed to Risky Business when they read this? :woohoo:

I say keep the current dining status. Cancel whatever ADR's that you need to. But remember, the both of you worked hard up to this, and saved for this trip. So, not only is this plan accounted for, but is incorporated into the pre-set budget. Plus, I'm not sure what your 1 per night ADR's are, but I'd bet that the difference between QSDP + the 1 or 2 sit down meals and DDP would be negligable.

On top of that, with what's going on now, use what you got already, and enjoy it. Take the opportunity to turn off your brains, enjoy yourselves and take the time to sit across from each other and catch your breaths while you are down there.

(and if you need a conscience cleaner, go to your ADR's cus this is fiscal 2012. And you are covered til fiscal 2013)

So insurance adjuster is going to look at our car tomorrow :scared: Hopefully today we can actually talk to the insurance company and see if we can get reimursed for a rental. I am kinda stressed - we have it at the dealership and do not know where we will end up getting it fixed - the car is 3 months old and I want it done right - but I don't want to pay more than the adjuster gives us.... We've never had to collect on our insurance before - so this process is new - kinda odd though - when we purchased the car a few months ago we debated a higher deductible and decided against it - very glad we did!!

I did make these little invites for my girls. Absolut_Mandy is the DISigner all I did was print, cut and glue!

The DISigners are great :) I want to try and do something for the hoop dee doo revue if I have time on my own so we shall see....

FYI - if you take it to a good repair shop, they will work with the adjuster on your behalf to do it right. And the payment will go directly to them so you're not in the middle. I would find a good auto body shop before working with the insurance. that's what we did when our almost new Lexus go hit. We found a high-end body shop and they took care of it.

And at this point there is likely a penalty for downgrading your package, making even less worth the money.

Good luck with all of it. I hope you get to go and that you find some magic to get through any tough days ahead.

Yeah it isn't "totaled" that we can tell - unless the frame is bent. God I hope not we have 0% interest on it!! So found out the deductible is lower ($100 yay!!) and insurance company will most likely work with VW even if it means working out a price on thier end (so far so good) car rental = pain. having trouble finding a cheap car to rent - ins company will pay $20 a day for up to 30 days. Cheapest so far is 25 a day - but not available until thursday or friday. We just want a little car that will get 30 mpg because my husband commutes 100 miles a day (and surprisingly our VW gets 34-37 mpg) so a bigger car is out of the question.... All in all annoying, not terrible and in the grand scheme of things it could always be worse!

I can honestly say I can not wait for vacation. :) Yeah and Verizon is 3 hours late with calling me back about my darn phone... Going to go run 6 miles - get out some frustration!

There really is nothing more relaxing and fun than feeding the ducks and geese. BDLsgal and I feed them along the Charles River, behind the Mariott in Auburndale, Newton. We actually discovered that when a goose gets agitated, it can hiss like a snake. I never knew that before.

PS: It must be a Boston thing with men. I occassionally "moosh" BDLsgal in the occassional photo op. :)

And when it's really mad it spreads its wings (geese can get pretty big) and runs at you hissing. It's really freaking scary!

We have a pond in our neighborhood and they nest in our yard. They would nest by our front door if we let them. We do not feed the geese. ;-)

Super Cute. I love the CM one. I've been on an invitation-making tear. Maybe I'll post them later.

So shaking my head. People constantly amaze me with their lack of courage. Unfortunately I know a lot of people with horrible lay off stories lately. Poor Dsis got fired last year from a bank after some money went missing. They agreed it was probably the teller (she was the manager) but fired her and the branch manager anyway for good measure ($200 was missing from a branch that handles half the LA Laker accounts--so a tiny amount compared to what goes through their hands every day). Then a few weeks later the branch manager got a text from one of the employees saying, "I wanted you fired so I could try for your job and told HR a bunch of lies. Ha Ha." People really amaze me.

I once got fired because my boss didn't like me, so she lied to her boss that I was lying on my time card (we didn't clock in and out, we wrote our times down ourselves) so I'd be fired. I emailed my boss's boss two weeks later with full copies of all of my time cards and proof that I was there, and got a reply back basically saying sorry you were accused of lying but we already filled your position. I didn't want the position back, I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't tell potential new employers that I lied on my time cards, which she thankfully promised to tell the truth (and did!). I'll never understand some people.

I would downgrade too, for my own peace of mind so I didn't feel guilty about lying-by-omission to him. But that's just me, I feel guilty over everything, whether I should or not! :lmao: And there are so many nice CS places that don't just serve hamburgers and chicken tenders, just look at the menus on All Ears and you will be pleasantly surprised! :goodvibes

I'm still waiting for my TA to forward my Mickey Mail to me. Should be this week. Too funny that your DS corrected you about Mickey vs. FedEx man. :rotfl2:
