I know there are a few Parrrotheads on these boards and I am hoping you can recommend a the Jimmy Buffet CD I should get. I wanted something with live versions of his classic hits.

My son has a new interest in Jimmy Buffet after we went to Margaritaville at Citiwalk.

Thanks for the help on all things DVC and not!:boat::thumbsup2

When I worked in a music store many moons ago, there a mini box set that was great, I can't remember if there were 3 or 4 cds in the set.

"Live in Anguilla" contains live versions of most of Buffets best-known songs.

The best I've found is: Meet Me in Margaritaville. :thumbsup2

All the classics..... enjoy ! :cool1:

The 4 CD set is called "Boats, Beaches, Bars and Ballads".....but I don't think it's live.

We have "Meet Me in Margaritaville" and both dd 11 and ds 13 love it. The only problem we've had with it is the song "Why Don't We Get Drunk" -- DH and I usually fast forward through that song when we're listening with the kids, we just don't think it's age appropriate for them.

"Feeding Frenzy" is positively the BEST Buffet Live album ever produced. Hands-down.

I can't tell you the last time I cooked on the grill without it playing on the deck while I cooked. Seriously. We're talking almost 20 years (ever since it came out) and I cook on the grill a LOT. ;)

If you have XM Radio, EVERY Buffet concert this Summer/Fall is LIVE on Radio Margaritaville XM-55 and is played back in its entireity at least once during the following week. Usually twice.

Just stick them on the OKW bus for a few hours. They'll get all of the songs on the trip. :cool1:

(There is the DVC connection for this thread :thumbsup2)

Oh, while you're on the bus, please ask the driver about which resort will be next to get DVC, they'll know for sure :lmao:

There is a new release from Jimmy called Encores. It is a 2 CD set that features only live encores from 22 different shows. Sounds like it might fit your needs. Gotta go now... there's booze in the blender...

Same with Sirius radio - Station 31.

Early on, OKW used to play Jimmy by the pool --- until some parents protested the lyrics of some songs! :cool2: I'm guessing they screened the ones played now on the buses.

I just wanted to add that every Buffett concert is broadcasted on Radio Margaritaville, every year. It is why the station was originally created. Also, if you are on Sirius the station is 31. If you have neither Sirius or XM, you can still listen to Radio Margaritaville over the Internet for free at http://radiomargaritaville.com.

As PPs have stated, remember Jimmy's music is intended for adults, so there are sometimes Lyrics that as parents you may find objectionable. However, if you let them pass without making a big deal out of them, younger kids probably won't even notice.

The only thing about Encores is that it is strictly solo acoustic stuff that Jimmy closes the shows with, therefore many of the songs will sound different, and they will not cover the full range of Jimmy's repertoire.

We were at OKW in January, and I'm pretty sure I heard "Why Don't We Get Drunk.." playing in the background. Maybe it was just my imagination. :)

Actually, I'm surprised WDW will play Jimmy at all. On one of the live albums or show recording (can't remember which or which one), Jimmy tells a story about a business negotiation with the Mouse that didn't go well. Basically, according to Jimmy, Disney wanted to turn his song/book Jolly Mon into an animated feature, but they requested that they be able to make the Jolly Mon character Caucasian. Since Jolly Mon is from the Caribbean, Jimmy refused. Basically, the negotiation ended there. :) Now whether or not any of this is true, we may never know as I'm sure we won't get Disney's side of the story.

Tuesdays, Thrusdays, and Saturdays is one of my fav live albums, Jimmy sings my favorite version of Southern Cross. I also like Jimmy live in Las Vegas mostly because I was at that concert so it's fun to listen to it. If you have little kids there is a really cute parakeet album sung by a children's choir and all the lyrics have been changed for the children. My kids have grown up listening to all of Jimmy's songs even "Why don't we get drunk" you here worse songs than this on the radio, one of Rhianna's songs that they play on the radio is way more risque than this :)
