Next summer (2006) we're planning to spend a week in a 2-bedroom at BCV around the 4th of July. We can time our trip to either end just after the 4th or begin just before the 4th, either way letting us see the holiday fireworks. This plan would also let us walk home from Epcot and avoid what must be a terrific transportation jam on the 4th itself.

Is it true that park crowds fall off a bit after the 4th, which would give us a better trip if we arrived then and spent most of our week after the holiday? Or are the parks simply a madhouse for the entire month?

how about putting July 4 in the middle.

more schools up north get out in July, Aug. most southern schools get out in June, July.

So I would put July 4 in the middle of the trip and see for myself the crowds before and after.

Madhouse the entire month-throw in the heat with crowds and rain everyday and yes it is a madhouse.

The 4th is extremly crowded! We've done the 4th for many years, but this year we're starting the the 5th. MK usually closes around noon due to the number of people in it. So if your planning on watching the fireworks there, pland on get there early and staying all day. One time we had a tower room facing MK at CR, and watched them from our balcony. Really nice to see them form a different perspective.

Now the heat doesn't bother us. It's nothing different from where we live, except we're another 10 degrreees warmer. Drink plenty of water, duck into AC places frequently, and take afternoon breaks back at your room. Then come back in the evening when most people have left.

A tangential question.

I have a PS at LTT for 7/4/05. If the MK closes at noon (stops admitting guests), can I get in for my PS?

TIA

Snow Shoe, it sounds like you feel there's at least a slight advantage to having most of our vacation days after the 4th rather than before. Is this correct?

And thanks for the advice about MK closing. I suspect that since we'll stay at BCV, will probably see Illuminations on the night of the 4th rather than Wishes. My guess is that they'll beef it up for the holiday.

rocketriter, I am leaving 7 weeks from today for 15 nights, June 23 - July 8th!! This will be my 1st time going in June/July. I was warned about the crowds on the 4th too. When I get back I will post a trip report and let you know how things went in comparison to other trips we've taken. Hopefully it will all go well. I can't wait!!!

we went on the 4th wasn't bad - I knew the MK was going to be crowded - so we went to Epcot - had a wonderful time - then when it closed - we went to the MK (after the firework - saw the fireworks on the beach at Polyn where we were staying - don't ask that trip was expensive).

It was July 4, 2002 - so I didn't want to go to the MK until after the fireworks.

we still had a wonderful time - the MK didn't close until 1 am that night - and since everyone else was leaving - by around 11:30pm when they were doing the parade it was just about empty.

great fun!!! we rode everything the girls wanted to ride.

so if you plan correctly you can do both Epcot and MK on July 4th....
