Parks Game! Part 5...Keep Playing! Resistance is Futile!

DJen saw through me…:)
I was trying to sneak another trick question in there…but AAQ’s to Madonna and CDM for getting it…actually I was only looking for the MK window…BUT I totally forgot about the China pavillion in Epcot (HEADSLAP! )So AAQ’s to both of you…

As for the first roller coaster…I’ll have to go with Space Mountain…but that seems a little too easy…
(Unless you are talking about the first ride to actually be CALLED a roller coaster…then I’ll say the Rock n’ Roller Coaster)

I think most of the questions out there are just awaiting confirmation, so I'll turn in my turkey AAQ:

The Japan pavillion in Epcot was originally going to have a ride, but plans were scrapped. Three part question:

Describe the ride?
What was the proposed name of the ride?
Why didn't it get built?

Granny...
I think Japan was supposed to have some sort of Mt. Fuji ride...it was to be a roller coaster thrill ride around and through Mt. Fuji (kinda like DL's Matterhorn)
I bet the name of the ride was Fire Mountain (which I still see kicking around the rumors board)
As for why it dodn't get built...same old story...lack of funds...and Disney couldn't get a Japanese corporate sponser to underwrite the cost of the attraction...

Granny, we must be reading the same sites ;)

Higgs got the Mt. Fuji part, but the reason it did not get built was because of a copyright dispute with Fuji film. The ride was to be called Journey to Mt. Fuji, and the Fuji film company wanted rights to sell film in the pavilion. Disney refused because of it's relationship with Kodak.

Updated with the ride name

A space ship AAQ to Higgsi ... it was indeed Space Mountain:)

I second CDM on why it wasn't built;)

Come on folks we need some questions:teeth:

Higgs...you are the sensei....the Master!! Yes, that's the answer, though slightly modified, that I was looking for.

Supposedly, a ride was designed modeled after the Matterhorn in Disneyland. Space at Epcot was allocated for it at the Japan pavillion. The working name for the ride was Mount Fuji. But of course, Kodak is a major sponsor of WDW and objected to that name. Between that mess and lack of budget, the project fell through.

A missing thrill ride AAQ to Higgs!!

Edit note: And additional AAQ to carpedm for the extra illumination on the topic. {Actually, I've read this on a few sites, and thought it was a neat story.}

What is Fire Mountain?

My understanding of what Fire Mountain is now is a proposed E-ticket ride for AK. From what I've read it will be a roller coaster. Supposedly there is going to be a press conference on April 22 (AK's 5 year anniversary) to officially announce it.

Fire Mountain was also a planned ride for the World Showcase that never got off of the ground

In an effort to find an answer to this question, I have read more rumors and conjecture!! It will be in the old, 20,000 Leagues site. No, I mean Adventureland. Wait, I mean Animal Kingdom. It'll be based on th exploding volcano at the end of Atlantis. No that movie didn't do well. It'll be based on Reign of Fire. Wait, that didn't make any money either! Aaarrgghh. I need a Whiparita!

AAQ card to Brer - for getting what kind of ride Fire Mountain is going to be and one to lacool for knowing the *legend of the volcano* story behind it...

Per DisJen: "Come on folks we need some questions"

Here's one! EASY :)

Riders shout with glee as they get set for a XX mile per hour splashdown on SplashMountain.

OK kids…new question time….
What do these two WDW things have in common? The MGM Backlot Tour and Dinoland USA?
Good luck!

EDIT:
I posted this the same time as pintrader….is it 55 mph?

higgsy not 55 mph and I have NO:eek: idea what those two have in common. Gonna hafta make myself THINK:D

Katheryn.... I'll guess it is slower than that....how about 40 mph?

:smooth:

Surely it has to be 71 mph. No, wait... that would make it the fastest ride. So how about the transposed magic number, 17 mph? Um... too slow.... how 'bout 25 mph. Yeah, 25 mph. That's my answer. ;)

45 miles per hour???

and....both of the tours tell something about history..lol. i have NO IDEA..lol

:bounce: Welcome Whispy Pixie :bounce:

We just love it when new players join in :)

Higgs.... Do they both have Dinosaur Bones?

:smooth:

PS.... Katheryn... Did you see my guess of 40 mph?

hmmmm Jay, uh "no" to dyslexia 17, 71 and 25.

Thanks for the try Pixie but it is not 45 mph either. It feels at least that fast and faster doesn't it?

OOOOOPS MBabe I missed yours the first time around. A speeding AAQ to MBABE. May I hold her AAQ until I get a Dole Whip??? Do they come in Coconut??
