Hi!
Planning to use DME and still go to a park on our arrival day. Would you pack your "park bag" inside your carry-on with other essentials for the day, then take it out for use at the resort?
We plan to arrive at MCO before noon, so I was thinking we shouldn't need anything in our carry-on for after bedtime. What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Yes, this is exactly what I do, even though I don't use DME. Since the temperature is often distinctly different, we're often changing as soon as we arrive, too. So usually we wear the top we'll wear in FL, then pack bottoms, shoes, etc right at the top of one bag. We have our "spot" where we always stop, sit down and get ourselves together and it's right next to a set of restrooms where we can change. That suitcase always includes my park bag.

my park bag is my 'personal item' that gets stowed under the seat in front of me (lately favoring a vera bradley messenger bag;)lots of room for whatever)

we'll top dress if it's really cold back home & remove/stow in one of the suitcases.

Sounds like how I do it. I have a largish tote bag, or small duffle bag that I routinely use as my carryon bag. I put my cash, ID's, itinerarys, and such in my Vera Bradley hipster. Then, a change of clothes (depending on the weather) and a swim suit, with my 3-1-1 baggie, a book, my electronics and some snacks go into the duffle/tote bag.

Be sure to watch your liquids. One time I put a bag of stuff I wanted to use to change into when I got to the resort. Unfortunately, I included a new $18 tube of Clinique sunscreen, which ended up getting tossed at security.

im still trying to find the large duffle on sale to use as carryon bag;)

i like the hipster for everyday @ home. bought the mini-hipster for next trip, seems to be just right size for remainder of trip (days i don't have to carry my folder with travel docs, etc.)

Ignoring all those other people :teeth: they mean well, but I have the definitive response: Yes, put your 'parks bag' in your carry-on luggage.

Your carry-on luggage should contain travel documents, medications, valuables (electronics, jewelry, etc.) and whatever items you will need for the first 24 hours at your destination, in case the airline misdirects your luggage.

disclaimer: teasing - everybody in this thread gave great answers

I make sure I CAN pack my backpack in my day bag when I go down, so that I have extra room to pack gifts on the way back. My backpack becomes my personal item and my day bag still fits nicely under my seat.

Yep, that's what we do. I packed a sandwich for us to have, too, as well as a change of clothes (we showered as soon as we got to the hotel- ew plane germs!!). And actually, our bags were delivered within an hour of us getting settled in the resort, so we didn't even have to go through all the trouble of packing seperately!! But ,it's good just in case your luggage takes a while to get to you.

In the past, trips have been me and DD (adult). Our carry-ons for the trip down consist of 2 very oversized (think almost beachbag sized) handbags. I carry the 3-1-1 bag, travel documents, my non-liquid makeup bag, cash, TCs, my cell phone, a book and our park bag. She carries her non-liquid makeup, pjs and a shirt that matches the bottoms we're wearing for each of us and her Ipod & cell phone. Once we get on the plane, I transfer all our valuables to the park bag so we can leave the carry-ons with Bell Services if our room isn't ready.

This year it will be my brother instead of DD and I don't think he'll carry a handbag!!! In order to cut down on baggage fees, we're going to share my 26" rolling duffle & bring a 20" carry-on each (plus my oversized handbag - can't travel without it, its tradition!)

I love the Eddie Bauer rolling duffles from Target. I got a 26" rolling duffle for $29.99 on sale that came with a matching 20" carry-on bonus. They're light, durable, easy to manuever and hold a ton of stuff. I did a 3 day weekend in just the 20"!
