Parks are crazy crowded today! Super Bowl Sunday

Hi all. My DSis went today (2-1) to get her free birthday tix and upgrade to an AP. She just called me to say she got her AP (at Main Ticket booth-she had one before) but she's not going in today because the lines for both parks are bypassing each other in the middle! Now that's crazy crowded! I guess alot of people thought it wouldn't be too bad today because of Super Bowl.

She also said that the line to get into the M & F parking structure was backed up to past Ball Rd. with police directing traffic. Since she was only staying for a few hours (they ate lunch at Jazz Kitchen) she parked at DTD lot.

She said, and I quote "It's not worth going in today just to get my free tortillas and birthday button!"

Thought those of you who haven't left yet for DLR might want to know.

Yeah, this has become one of those "worst kept secrets." People usually think that parks can't be TOO busy because everyone's at home watching the Super Bowl, but that's the thing...

Everyone thinks that... and thus anyone that isn't remotely interested in Football tries to get into the parks.

The only reason it was alright last year was because it was also raining. But it was busy nonetheless...



So, contrary to popular belief, DLR is always PACKED on Super Bowl Sunday.

Yup, this is a big problem every year and every year I hear from at least one person who went and got a bit shocked. The truth is theres enough locals not watching the game who think that the park is going to be empty and go. Add to it improving local weather like you have today and it's the perfect makings for a very, very bad day.

It's changed from the days years ago when the park WAS basically empty for SuperBowl. It hasn't been empty for the past few years, from what I've heard.

The lines sound a lot like what they were on Jan 2nd - it was absolutely crazy!!

I almost went today, but remembered last year. It's a crowded day for all the reasons stated above.

The trick is to make the best of it and just accept the crowds are part of the deal.

We were leaving today. This was the ticket booths at about 11:00 a.m. today. All of the booths were PACKED!! Long lines!

Yikes! We should have a list of days when the park is especially crowded. It would be very handy. I would add Jan. 2 to that list!

I was at DL last year on Superbowl Sunday. It wasn't summer crowded, but crowded enough. Over the years a lot of people have caught on that it's a good time to go. But it's really not anymore. I guess the only way to go to Disneyland when it's a ghost town is to rent out the park. I'm afraid to even ask how much $$ that would be. Whatever it is, I know it's not in my budget.

Wow!! I was actually wondering about how crowded the parks were today when I heard Bruce Springsteen say "I'm going to Disneyland" during the half-time show. You gotta love a rocker who takes the time to plug our park!

LOL DBF and I were cracking up, we both said "No Bruce, wait until NEXT weekend when we will be there!" LOL That was too funny......

So were the lines like that all day? Because the OP was done before SB started.

I was there with my dad on Sunday. We were there at rope drop, but between 10 and 11 the crowds just got crazy! It was better over at DCA, but still more crowded than usual.
