Parking while staying in cash room

Hi everyone! Headed down for a conference next week at the YC- staying at YC. We are long time DVC members and have never played for parking before while staying on points but this time is cash! Do we have to pay for parking this trip? I am not sure if our free parking is for being DVC members or for actually staying on our points. Thank you everyone!

As far as I know, you only get free parking if you stay on points. It doesn't matter whether you use those points at a DVC resort or a regular hotel, such as French Quarter. It is the points, and the associated Maintenance Fees that go with them, that pay for your parking.

So, if you pay cash, no matter where you stay, you will need to pay parking.

You will be charged for parking unless the organization having the conference has some kind of special deal. You get free parking if staying in a DVC resort or a Disney hotel on points, or staying in a DVC villa on cash.

Hi guys just wanted to give an update (in case anyone else was wondering). I called Disney group reservations (who I booked the room and conference through) and parking is completely FREE if attending a conference! I really hope this CM was correct!

This is true until October 2019. I believe after that Disney is changing that policy.

Here is the current parking policy:

• DVC Members get free parking when staying at any DVC resort on points or cash
• DVC Members get free parking at all other Disney resorts only when staying on points
• Those with disabled placards/plates get free parking at all Disney resorts

I am not sure about conferences, but I will say that parking fees is something I have found is almost always negotiable at all hotels. Usually I ask for a manager and point out that cheaper hotels in the area don't charge for parking for their guests, sometimes I get discounted parking, sometimes free, but it works a out 80% of the time. Admittedly I haven't tried it at Disney World resorts, but I have managed to get free valet parking at the Grand Californian after pointing out how far their self parking is compared to where it could be (I.e. self parking should be where the valet people park cars and the valets should use what is self parking). Granted I would have received free self parking anyway, but you get the idea. My point is it never hurts to polutely ask for discounted/free parking, the worst they can say is no.

Yes, that is their policy at Disneyland, all DVC Members get free self parking when staying on property regardless of if they are using points or cash, Disney World is different.

Really, I was just at Disneyland (paid cash) and they made me pay for parking as a DVC member. Is this a policy written somewhere as I would like to get the cash back?

I believe it’s only points stays.

I know it is written on the Grand Californian parking rate sign that DVC Members get free parking when staying there or at least it was the last time I stayed there, not sure about the other hotels, they just always see I am a DVC member since it is in the system and tell me my parking is free for my stay when I check in.
