The huddling around to get into merch building is crazy. They need to a different entrance for that.

Why does this insanity seem to be getting worse every year? It’s not like there are more people running the events trying to cram in. I would be spitting fire and nails if I had to wait that long just to get my shirt after bib pickup (after waiting in the first place for bib pickup). rD seems to get dumber/less competent as time goes by.

I don't know why they just don't give you the shirts/bag at bib pickup. Wait, that's wrong - I DO know, because they want people to go into the expo building and spend money. But, like, people who want to go shopping are gonna shop. Do they really think people who had no intention of shopping are really going to impulse buy that much stuff in the vendor area?

No kidding! There were close to 25,000 people doing these races not so long ago, and it was never this chaotic.

Bib line (I hope this is the bib line) is insane and they have no one out here directing traffic lol

I had decided that this is my last rD race for a long while and this really solidified it. Coming into the weekend with this level of organization is asinine.

yeah i thought i was being absent minded today , but thats because it is fairly chaotic around me. Today is a bit crazy...i also remember previous years before covid that had more runners and seemed better organized

I can’t recall ANY MW year I’ve gone on Day 1 and it wasn’t crazy. I have a strong memory of the Dopey pick-up line going through the soccer fields and it took easily an hour to get through. A large part of why I’ll probably never do a MW 5K again is my overriding desire to avoid expo Day 1 insanity! Ditto for PHM.

Although I'm not there yet, apart from Goofy and Dopey merch, I do not see anything that is a must-have (for me) - which I guess is a good thing.

Ahhhh the flex room they usually have the indoor bib queue in is set up for basket ball ans has no queue inside. That’s why outside is FUBAR

I’ve heard that Disney charges quite a bit for space at the Expo. My guess is that they justify the prices with the vendors by guaranteeing them a certain amount of foot traffic to the Expo.

I completely agree - every influencer now talks about how you need to get here early. I think rD is having to deal with more people first morning of the expo. I like the way NYC does it where you have to pre-book your day/ time for pickup. I suspect rD will eventually need to do this. Keep Day 1 of Expo to 5k and Dopey runners exclusively.

Runners relation line is huge. I don’t need to hop in because cycles start up front. But apparently the POT issue is rampant this weekend
