Ok- if I am paying to park, what do i get by paying extra for valet?
I know the basic- but is it covered parking?
Is self park covered? Are the spaces larger so I don't get dinged? I am very picky about my car and only park in a slot that has one side where others can park and I park as far over as I can get to the side with no car! I love my car and take very good care of it. I would pay extra if I get a little extra. I dont' plan to really come and go much once I get to HRH so the valet parking and going to get the car really doesn't mean anything to me.
Also- I don't want my car to be invaded by ants as a previous poster reported. Does anyone know what someone said would keep bugs out? I never leave food or open containers in the car when it is parked....

I could be a little anal but I love my car, paid quite a bit for it, and plan on keeping it for a long time. princess:

Hey there Julie, my old Disney Cruise buddy!!! :sunny: How are you and your family. Send me a PM!!!
I can't remeber about parking but I'm sure Motherfletcher or Ryguy will.

Paying for parking is a pain. We stayed at Loew's South Beach and paid $30 a night! There is no special treatment for your car if valet parked or self parked. The valet parking used to be subbed out to AAA and it went to another company that raised the price to $12 for self parking. The worst horror story that I've heard is from a Disser who's dad lost $3000 in cash from the glove compartment in the self park lot. At SoBe they walked around our van and noted all of the dings so we wouldn't blame them for any old ones. The only advice I can give is to find somewhere that you are comfortable leaving your car and take a taxi to the hotel. At check in they ask if you self parked. What if you just said that you arrived by taxi?

It's like I said in the other thread...

Park at the PBH, and take the shuttle over to the HRH. The PBH has a parking garage, with tons of spaces and it's covered. Your car will not get dinged here. The HRH lot is always full, so it makes sense to send people to the PBH garage. You can get a validation card from the front window just outside the lobby. Or get this, at the exit gate, they have a box where people can put their hotel keys (this opens the gate). It says recycle keys here. Duh, so you could just grab one and it would open the gate.

Do this, go to the HRH and unpack all your stuff. Then drive your car over to the PBH garage, park, and then you can take the shuttle, or just walk. It's only 8 minutes along the path from the boat dock.

Your car will not get towed. There are no stickers on the cars at the PBH.

We always valet just because it is more convenient. The Hard Rock does not have a huge parking lot and it gets super packed if you come back to the hotel late. We did the self park thing once and every time we would go out to dinner and come back there would be no parking. It was a pain. Also it is a long walk to the car in the parking lot from the hotel so it's just more convenient to valet. They bring your car right away and you don't have to worry about finding parking or walking quite a distance. I can't remember how much it was per day last year - I think it was $12.00 dollars a day for valet. I'm not sure.
