Parking ticket confusion

Got a parking ticket today for an expired meter. I did not put $ in the meter because the back of the meter reflects the hours the meter is in effect, then in it says "Saturday and Sundays free". Today is Saturday! This is in a small lot under a train trestle. Am I missing something? Can I just call the courthouse and have them dismiss it, or do I have to go to court? My concern is also that even after getting this dismissed, they will ticket again, and I'll have to fight it again, etc.... I have to park there every Sat for a fitness class I attend. It would be stupid for me to have to feed the meter on a free day. I know its only like $1 each time, but then I have to make sure I always have a ton of quarters (since thats all those meter take).

I would go back down and take a photo of what is on the meter you were parked at that shows it's free on Saturdays. I would also look at additional signage and the city website to see what it says about parking meter hours. All of the meters I've ever encountered were only free on Sundays, and even now some of those I don't think are free on Sundays any more.

You would have valid reasoning if the meter says Saturday is free and you can prove it was the meter you were parked at, but I would take the photo today in case that sign/sticker should have been covered etc if something has changed.

Definitely get a photo and make the call. I'd be tempted to leave the photo and a note on the car next time too.
