Parking Reminder??

The only complaint that I have ever had about the busses to OKW was on NYE 1999. Unlike Diane's 10 to 20 minute wait to get back to OKW from EPCOT after the midnight fireworks, we ran into a crowd so deep and crushing and so confused that it took about an hour to get on a bus and back to OKW. They had to bring in some independent busses with drivers who did not know the drop off plan for OKW, but we helped him out. :) It was an experience, especially with the huge bus that he was driving. He was an EXCELLENT driver.

If you beat the crowd immediately after the midnight fireworks, I'm sure it would have been better, but we hung around at the Fountainview Cafe for coffee and dessert. My two teenagers stayed even later and ran into an even worse crowd and wait. However, I must add that this was an EXCEPTION! It was the only time that I have been disappointed in Disney's crowd control and planning.

It sounds like the main parking problem is at BWI and BWV. Since the BW is an attraction, people do need to park there. Disney should have a close section of parking spaces for hotel and villa guests and a seperate section for people visiting the BW. Different color parking passes would be issued to hotel and villa guests so that they are easily identifiable. Problem solved!

Hey Paul! I was part of the Millenium Epcot throng.:teeth:

That was crazy! The problem wasn't just that they needed tons of buses, it was trying to push and squeeze through all the other guests who were heading to other resorts.

I remember the OKW bus sitting there, and having to explain to everyone that we were not cutting in front of them, we were just trying to get past them to reach our own bus.

You and I must have been on the same bus. The poor driver didn't know the first thing about OKW, and the bus was HUGE!!! We figured he would get stuck at that one turnaround, so we got out and walked from Peninsular to our unit at Turtle Pond.

We were kicking ourselves when the bus passed us by.:( :( :(

It was still worth it!:) :) :) :) :)

Hi Regina,

Small DVC world!! Yes, we must have been on the same bus. We were staying at Turtle Pond, too, but waited to the end of the bus run. That turnaround you refer to was close, but he did it with inches to spare!!! We were all applauding him at the end. We will never forget that trip! It was a GREAT way to welcome 2000!! :teeth:

We especially liked the two yellow flashlights in our room when we returned just in case all the power went out at midnight. ;)
