Parking near the park entrances

Has anyone ever tried asking the parking attendants if they can go on up towards the park entrance and look for empty parking spaces?

My brother dropped dh and me off at AK the other week. He drove towards the taxi and bus drop-off area and told the attendant he was dropping off - they just signalled us through. It occurred to us that we could then have simply parked up right next to the entrance. At AK it's not such a big deal - we usually walk from wherever we've parked - but it would be useful at other parks.

The week before we were walking back to our car from the TTC when a guy driving around stopped to ask us if he was as close as he could be. We told him he was and he pulled into a space. We quite often see people driving around near the entrances looking for empty spaces and I'm wondering how they manage to get there. We always used to arrive at the parking lots before park opening, so we were usually within walking distance. These days we often arrive later in the day and, on occasions, have waited ages for a tram.

We have arrived mid-afternoon on occasion and depending on which parking marshall you get he may let you go a bit closer.

I would suggest you go towards where they are directing you to park, usually they are only using half the line, and sneak up the front. We have done this on many occasions and found a space on the first row after the disabled parking.

Or of course you could say that you are 'dropping off' - there is a special area in the right-hand car park at Epcot - and sneak in closer

Of course I would not encourage you tell 'porkies' but if you park in the area you are being directed to you will of course walk or tram past loads and loads of empty spaces near the front.

Good luck

Elaine
