Has anyone ever tried asking the parking attendants if they can go on up towards the park entrance and look for empty parking spaces?
My brother dropped dh and me off at AK the other week. He drove towards the taxi and bus drop-off area and told the attendant he was dropping off - they just signalled us through. It occurred to us that we could then have simply parked up right next to the entrance. At AK it's not such a big deal - we usually walk from wherever we've parked - but it would be useful at other parks.
The week before we were walking back to our car from the TTC when a guy driving around stopped to ask us if he was as close as he could be. We told him he was and he pulled into a space. We quite often see people driving around near the entrances looking for empty spaces and I'm wondering how they manage to get there. We always used to arrive at the parking lots before park opening, so we were usually within walking distance. These days we often arrive later in the day and, on occasions, have waited ages for a tram.
