Parking for Trader Sams

Trust me.... I don't want to go through the accounting, but we spend way, way more annually than the average guest.
I know. Before we moved here we were average guests for 20+ years.

At Poly alone? That would be difficult to do. Even if so, like I said, a local will never have priority over a current paying guest. I've had some outrageous tabs at HMF, and at Boca Raton Resort or Beach Club, over the 17 years or so that I've been going to these places (the breakers was one of my faves well before HMF even opened) still- none of those will prioritize me over a current guest, even if it's full of "one time guests". And they are completely right to do so, it wouldn't make sense to sacrifice dissatisfaction of a resort guest (who's paying $500+ per night) over a local who doesn't want to pay to valet.

Perhaps they should do some type of validation, with a minimum purchase.

I don't know of many hotels in that price range who will comp your valet fee with a minimum purchase, certainly not in South Florida. I understand that's not Orlando, but still at least at Poly you have the option to park and walk if you don't want to pay. Which is more than you have at a lot of hotels.

No, not Poly alone, but that opens up an entire new debate that I won't start.

Anyone can spin it anyway they want, but point is I came to the Poly to spend roughly $200 at the Poly, and was turned away because they wouldn't let me park at the Poly. And yes, there were plenty of spaces in the secondary lot.

Does that sound like good business sense to you?

I understand the abuse aspect, but as I said earlier I'm willing to show receipts. I'm currently typing this from Sam's...

I understand your frustration bc like I said, you wouldn't really expect that at Disney. And again, it stinks that a few ruined it for the many. But it's understandable why they had to make that change if it was being abused.

Oh I just read your last part- have fun!! And please have a drink for me ;).

How do they know you will be spending $200 vs skipping off to MK when you arrive?

Actually, now that I think about it, we probably do spend more at the Poly alone than the average guest.

Between Sam's, 'Ohana, Tambu... We easily hit $300 per month, probably more. So, 4K alone at the poly is likely more than 7 nights at $350/nt, plus one 'Ohana and two Sam's. (Average guest??)

Ok granted we stayed on a tpv room..but I still didn't know that standard rooms were only $350..can there really be that much of a difference between the two? I haven't seen that price in anytime that I have looked.

Anyway, back to your post, 7 nights- Captain cooks daily. Trader Sam's twice, Ohana once or twice (if bfast and dinner, Kona once for breakfast, water craft once, drinks at pool-daily, room service once, souvenirs, dole whip 3 times? (Not sure on that last one)
I would say that's what the average guest spends on top of their room fee. So whatever all that would equal to.

But again- either way- a resort will never give a local person priority. They just won't. Anywhere.

But I'm not looking at it from a locals standpoint... I'm looking at it from a Poly customers standpoint.

But it's a hotel at the end of the day. So no matter who spends what at their bars and restaurants, their priority is to their hotel guests.

Like I said, it's the same in SoFla, if you just look at it from a guest or bar/restaurant customer standpoint. Several locals love the bars/lounges/restaurants in a ton of hotels. It doesn't mean we are more entitled or should be favored. Ok now, if I was refused entry to HMF or the Delano, I'd be throwing a fit. But not for having to pay for valet.

I do understand your point, but I respectfully disagree. Beds are only one part of the hotel / resort. If what you said was fact than people with an 'Ohana ressie that were staying at GF would be turned away.
