Can anyone offer any information about the parking for the parks. We will have a car but I read that MK parking is very far away from the park entrance. I thought there were trams that transported people from the lots to the entrances, is that true and if so, is it really inconvenient?? And what about parking at the other parks?? Is it ever worth it to drive yourself??

Epcot, Ak and MGM have very handy parking lots.. MK 's lot is far away and you will need to go by boat or monorail to get from the parking lot to the park. IMHO -If you are staying off site then one needs to drive to the parks, if you are onsite then the Disney transportation is wonderful and you won't need the car..

An alternative to parking at MK is to park at Epcot and ride the monorail over..

Parking for MK is at the transportation and ticket center which is far away from the actual park. Take either the monorail or the boat to the park from the TTC. Not inconvinient, actually pretty fun.
All of the parking lots have trams from the parking spaces to the front of the park (or at the MK lot, to the area where all the transport is). The trams are quick, come pretty frequently, and pull up right to the end of the rows you are parked in. The trams also take you back to the lots when you're leaving.

Thanks for the great suggestions. We are staying at Pop Century and not coming from the Orlando airport, and after our Disney stay, going to the west coast, so we need a car. Last year those long days walking around the parks until after fireworks, then the long walk out of the park to the bus stop was very difficult for my 5 year old and many times the busses are standing room only when he would fall asleep on the way, then the walk back to the room, Whew!! I was thinking that the car may be an ever so slight improvement, but just wasn't sure. We will try it once or twice just to see how it goes. Thanks again.
