Parking Cost at Pro Sports Games

We pay $15 for parking for our Panthers games. We do park a bit farther out and walk a few blocks to the stadium. I know that parking closer to the stadium costs a bit more.

Parking ranges from $10 to $20 for most games downtown. If you know enough about the city there are free places to park within a mile of all the stadiums so if you are willing to walk a little you can park for free, especially for the Indians and Cavs. I'd rather park a little farther away then pay $20 because I am unwilling to walk a mile.

I wish we had that option. I don't think there is anywhere in Philly to park for free. Even the side streets are metered. :sad2:

Orioles - $10 for non-prime Oriole's games; $20 for prime. (Going to see Yankees on 9/19 but will have a nice parking pass so it will be free.

Nationals - went on Saturday night. Park free at garage, ride metro. Some nice famiy gave us their ride all day passes so even that was free.

Pirates - Went to a game last weekend and parking was $10 in the lot between PNC Park and the football stadium.

Frederick Keys - Oriole's Single A Affiliate (Still pro-sports team so it qualifies), went on Friday night and parking is free.

Parking near the new Consol Energy Center is 20.00. I used to park at a nearby university parking garage and walk 5 minutes for less than 10.00. No more.

I park near PNC Park in the parking garage for Pirate games. It is 12.00. Do they raise that for Steeler games since they are always sold out?

They must definetly raise the price. I know if I would park over in the city and walk over the bridge its only about $15.00, but my co-worker got mugged 2 years ago doing that. Since its only my son and I who usually go, I park at Station Square and take the boat over. Its $30.00 total for both of us. When DH and I went with our neighbors last year and parked on the NorthSide it was also $30.00

I thought they paid you when you went to a Pirate game because they are so excited that someone is willing to go see the Pirates. :rotfl2:

:rotfl: Good one!

I guess I should have been more specific and called it New Meadowlands Stadium. I figured more people on the DIS would recognize it if I called it the new Jets stadium. He did park in a stadium lot and he paid $50. He did not have a prepaid parking pass. He has been going to Jets games for over 15 years, so he knows what he is talking about when it comes to parking. I guess with "The New Meadowlands Stadium" things are going to be a bit different than at the old Giants Stadium.

So I just spoke to DH's friend who also works at The New Meadowlands Stadium(he works for Central Parking, DH works inside the stadium) and he said your brother got ripped off!
He said that absolutely no money is taken at the booths when you enter the stadium lot, it is pre-paid parking only. He said that the parking employees ask to see your parking pass if it's not already visible and if you don't have one you are told to turn around and exit. The parking employees can direct you to a lot that is located off stadium property (it's on the back road-I think Paterson Plank Road, by charlie Browns Restaurant. The employees call it The Murray Hill Lot). There are also a few businesses on RTE. 120 (the road that runs between the Stadium and Izod ) that offer parking with free shuttle included. He said that one of the places is The Grasshopper Bar/Grill which is located about a mile from the stadium toward Moonachie on RTE120, they charge $15 or $20 for parking with shuttle service.

DH's friend said that either your brother bought the parking pass from someone before he entered the lot (season tickets holders sometimes do this and try to make a few extra bucks) or he met a dishonest parking employee. Unfortunately, there are a few of these parking employees that let people park in the stadium lot without a pass "for a fee" and then they rip the people off. It is definately not allowed and any employee caught doing this will be fired immediatley.
I'm sure your brother had no idea he was being ripped off, he probably asked one of those employees how much to park and the person took advantage of that. The parking employees all wear bright yellow shirts with "parking/traffic" written on the back. If this happens to your brother again please tell him to make note of the persons name and their town (it's listed on the ID that all employees must wear around their neck) and call the stadium.

Thanks for the info. He said they parked in (or near, I forget) a garage close to Xanadu and walked across a walkway/bridge. Like I said, they did not have a prepaid parking pass. I haven't been to the Meadowlands in a while so I can't picture the exact place where they parked. I'll ask what kind of shirt the worker was wearing.

I just read this on the Jets website:

There has been a change in the parking options for the New York Jets' second preseason home game on Friday, Aug. 27, when they host the Washington Redskins at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Murray Hill Parkway, the independent satellite parking lot located off of Paterson Plank Road and Union Avenue in East Rutherford, has announced that parking will not be available for the game, which kicks off at 7 p.m.

With Murray Hill Parkway unavailable, there are two alternate parking options:

■ Single-game parking passes will be available for purchase online at Ticketmaster for $50 each. To purchase single-game parking passes through Ticketmaster, click here.

■ Single-game parking passes will also be available at the toll booths on gameday for $50 each. Passes purchased at the toll booths can only be purchased with cash

I stand corrected then (ok DH and his friend stand corrected), i apologize for my mistake.
Thats part of the problem with the new stadium, they change things on a whim and don't tell all the employees. The funny thing is that the stadium has gotten quite a few complaints (on the comment cards available at the stadium) that many employees don't know what they are doing. How do they expect the employees to know what they are doing if noone tells them when there is a change in the rules (even if it's only for 1 game). Then the big wigs at the meadowlands have the nerve to reem out the employees for being clueless.

I still think your brother got ripped off except it was by the meadowlands not a dishonest parking employee. I can't believe that they would charge $50 for a single game pass when the alternate lot that is supposed to be available was closed by them, I swear I think it's an underhanded way to make extra money. They wonder why attendance is down, DUH, it's because the fans just can't afford to support the teams anymore (or the owners big fat wallets).
