Parking Cost at Pro Sports Games

What is the most you have paid to see a pro game? My brother went to the Jets vs. Redskins pre season game last night and they had to pay $50 to park at the new Jets stadium! For pre season! A hotel near the stadium was offering parking for $25 and they would shuttle you to the stadium, they laughed at that and thought it was expensive to do that, until they had to scrape together $50 to park at the stadium!

O.k. first of all it's not "the new jets stadium", it's called The New Meadowlands Stadium! Second, my DH works there (his 2nd job) and has worked for the Meadowlands for 3 years and as far as parking goes it is $25 for a Pre-Paid parking pass. If you don't have the pass then you can not park in the stadium lot! If on the off chance your brother was able to park in the lot without a pre-paid parking pass it is still not $50.

We are also season ticket holders for the Giants (unfortunately DH doesn't use the tickets because he is working every game, so DNephew uses the tickets) and a letter comes with the bill for the tickets stating that if you choose not to purchase the pre-paid parking then you must find alternate means of parking outside the stadium lot!

When I go to the Phillies games, we usually pay 15-20.00.
When I go to the Dallas Cowboys games, I walk from the hotel but am amazed at seeing signs saying anywhere from 50-70 dollars for parking! its crazy!!

It's been a few years, but back when we lived in Boston it could be upwards of $40 to park for a Red Sox game if you wanted one of the lots close to Fenway. I had to go to a lot of games for work, and it was an extremely expensive endeavor that thankfully I was able to expense back to my employer.

Parking at the Triple-A baseball stadium in our new town is $3 (and there are plenty of free lots within a few lots), and game tickets are another $5, so our entire family can take in a game (including treats) for less than it cost me to park at Fenway!

There are people (scalpers I guess) that sell the prepaid parking passes before you go into the stadium lot. Last year they were selling for $40 so $50for this year sounds right. They also walk around during tailgating willing to buy the passes to sell.

At the new Cowboys stadium parking is 50-75....and tickets prices are insane, so no way we will be going to a Cowboys game!!

Parking at the Ballpark in Arlington is only $10!!! Go Rangers!!! :cheer2:

I had a friend go to a Cowboys game last year and she paid $75 for parking. I had another friend go to the George Strait concert that was at Cowboys stadium last year, and they had to pay $125 (I know - it's not a sporting event, but it was at a sports stadium and still way too expensive!)

We only paid $8 to park at an Angels game last week. It was $5 across the street but I was in the wrong lane to get there.
We go to a few Calgary Flames games each year & the parking (last year) was $15 a couple of blocks away not sure how much to park closer. When it's really cold you walk really fast to get inside.

Wow, $125 to park? It's not a sportsgame but still I think we have a winner for the highest parking fee.

I am not trying to agrue with you, but my dh has season Jets tickets and he told me if you don't have prepaid parking (which he has) the parking would be $50.

now that I can totally understand! The scalpers are brutal and they will rip you off any chance they get, unfortuntaley none of them ever seem to get caught.

We try to attend games to see the Chargers play the Broncos. It's cheaper than going to Denver from here.

We use the trolly and try to stay in a hotel that has specials for trolly passes. I don't think we've paid more than $5-10 for the trolly ride to the stadium.

DH's friend works for Central Parking (basically, the parking lot attendants at the stadium) and i will double check with him how the parking situation works for the Jets and if they have a different policy then the Giants(which is definatley possible because they butt heads on alot of stuff) when I get a chance. DH works inside the stadium .

I don't see us going back to the Meadowlands complex for anything in the near future, except maybe the race track. Everything we went for has moved to the Pru Center - the Nets, college bball, now even the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. The place is a nightmare to park in anyway. No way would I pay $50 to park! But I guess they have to get their revenue while they can since there are only maybe 8 home games for the Jets per year?

Prudential Center is getting out of hand too. Last night I took DD13 and her friends to the Justin Bieber concert , and it cost me $30 to park in the lot directly across the street. The Devils games are not much better, we usually pay $25 to park in the same lot. I swear between the cost of tickets, a souvenier or two, something to eat and parking it's insane.
for example:

4 Justin Bieber Tickets ($300)
Parking ($30)
Program ($20)
Concert t-shirt ($35)
Rubber Bracelet ($10)
1 order chicken fingers & fries
1 extra order fries
1 medium soda ($19.50)
4 cookies & bottle of h2o($13.50)
------------
TOTAL: $428.00:scared1:

Thank goodness DD13's 2 friends had money for souviniers and food but, if they didn't I would have bought them stuff because I wouldn't have felt right having DD13 eat in front of them or get a souvie if they couldn't.

Prices like these make it really hard for families to do special things like this, even the circus prices are this bad (tickets maybe a little cheaper).

OMG! Such high prices.

The only professional games I have been to is to watch The Atlanta Braves at Turner Field. if oyu buy your tickets online and get a parking pass ahead of time, it is $10, otherwise it is $12 the day of the game.

And, and, AND!!!!! the best part about Turner field is that you can bring in your own food in a soft sided cooler. Yes, your own food. OMG, are they Disney or what? We've brought in sub sandwiches, chips, etc...however you sometimes can't resist a ballaprk hotdog, funnel cake, or ice cream. And yes, we do buy drinks there.

But the stadium does rip you off....they have a Chick-Fil-A inside the stadium. Cost of a Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich -- $4.75. Cost of that same sandwich at a freestanding Chick-Fil-A -- $2.75.

Actually, I believe that if you choose not to use the prepaid option AND there is space in the stadium, the cost is $50/car. A few of the lots outside the stadium are no longer accomodating football patrons and it's put a real crunch on people who depended on those lots for less expensive parking.

Between the seat licensing and the parking costs, it's obvious that the Giants no longer want individual season ticket holders. The Jets can't sell their seat licenses and are just trying to fill the stadium with season ticketholders.

My dh did not purchase the PSL. He had great seats in the old stadium and had to trade them for nosebleeds because we can't afford the PSL.
now we have the Jets people calling us asking us to purchase the PSL at a discount.
I would be really pissed if dh had paid full price and now they are offering them for 1/2 off!!

The last time the Jets called, I told the guy if they want to pay for our 3 children to go to college, I will pay for the PSL. Funny...I have not heard from them since!!

We owned Jet tickets and gave them up last year. The Jets have been relentless about calling and trying to get us to buy season tickets...first with and now without the seat licensing fees.

We currently own Giant tickets but sell them for the season. We own in the nosebleed section and understand that season ticket holders in the lower levels moved up to nosebleed in order to afford the licensing. My husband just shook his head at the parking costs. We've owned various professional sports tickets for over 25 years and have never seen such ridiculous premiums for tickets and parking.

It is ridiculous, Dh's Father had these tickets before he signed them over to dh. He used to work for Hess and had these season tickets forever...I would be happy to just get rid of them but dh is such a Jets fan he will never get rid of the tickets.

When we saw the Patriots play last year we paid $40 to park, but the tailgating experience was worth it and I would have paid more if I had too!! :)

In Boston, when we see the Red Sox play, we pay $35 and are able to park across the street from the stadium, near Jerry Remy's place. Super easy! :)

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

It's between $5-15 here depending on how far away the lot is from the stadium.

I took my kids to a Twins game a few weeks ago on a Friday night and we parked for $5 at the Macy's parking garage downtown (Minneapolis) about 3 blocks from the stadium (Target field...brand new ballpark!). :thumbsup2
They advertise the $5 after 4pm. Right across the street from that lot it was $15! It took us maybe 5 minutes or so to walk over to the stadium.

I also went to a weekday game back in May and spent $9 about 8 blocks away from the field. (I think it was down around Orchestra Hall).

At Miller Park general parking is $15, preferred (closer to the stadium)is $25.

Some of the games (vs. the Cubs) are higher priced parking ~ $25 for general and $35 for preferred.

At Lambeau, I think you have to have a pre-paid parking pass (ie a season ticket holder) to park in the (very tiny) lot.

Off-site parking is typically right around $15. Further away is around $10 and closer is around $20-$25. :)
