Is parking safe. I am considering renting a car for my trip and driving from MCO to the Port and leaving my rental there for my 4 day cruise.

I can swing a real good rate on a weekly rental and I really would rather be able to work at my pace...

Is parking safe? Being from NYC, I am a bit paranoid... Please help with some assistance...

The Port Authority lots at Port Canaveral appear to be very safe. The DCL lot is fenced and well lit and seems to have security cameras in various locations. I don't know if this means it is monitored 24/7 however.

Out of four cruises during which we parked at the lot, we've never encountered a problem. It would seem that it is safe and secure.

Have no fear.....the lots are fine. We are also from the NYC metro area and had some concerns but we have left our rental there before with no problems....same deal as you.....got a better rate for a weekly rental (even with the parking fee at the port) than a two-day rental.

I was quite puzzled when we got back to port and got to our rental....I could not understand why the driver's side window was down....turns out I left it down after I paid for the parking so it sat in the lot for days with the window down!!! Unfortunately they had heavy rain when we were away and the floor of the car had about 2 inches of water in it!!!

I guess I was so excited about cruising and helping my elderly aunt get out of the car, I forgot to close the window. Bought some towels at one of the beach shops in Cocoa and sopped up all the water. It dried by the time I had to return the car. All's well that ends well!!!

Oh my!!!!!! Thats awful... Like riding in a NYC Taxi cab after a snow storm...about 1 foot of water... yuck!

Don't pay for parking and rental while on the ship!

Rent from Budget

You can return the car at the Budget rental office near the port and pick up another one when you return.

I dropped my family at the port, they checked in while I returned the car. I was back at the port with them in under 30 min. We arrived about 10:30. All I had to do was go to the ticket counter they check inat and show my photo ID to get KTTW card.

At the end of the trip we got off the ship, checked our bags with USair and then all got the shuttle back to the budget Office. Once again this took under 30 minutes.
