parking at the disney resorts

Clear as Mud! :)

No – really – Here are my areas of confusion:

Many just like the ability to walk out the IG for an easier exit

But you don’t have a problem with that if they pay for Valet Parking ($12+$2) – is that right?

Also: Signage that states ‘Parking for park access is not provided’

Again (sorry to be so dense) – but this is only at parking lots that do not charge a fee? These signs are not at Valet Parking lots?

Really appreciate the input.

Well when it comes to the signs that say "Parking for park access is not provided" I always assumed that WDW meant the self parking lot that guests who stay there would use. I mean when you or anyone else think about it logically that makes a lot of sense.

As for those who valet and then go off to the parks, those cars aren't taking up the self parking spots.

valet parking takes a resort guest place just as much as a normal parker. people still valet when they stay at the resort.

The valet lots are rarely full. And if they are, the valet parkers have to find a space, the guest is not inconvenienced.

I’m a little confused…

Are any of you un-happy if people pay for Valet parking and then enter the parks? Or are you all just saying that it is wrong to try to get “free” parking when planning to access the parks?

From the link about parking restrictions for the Flower & Garden Festival, it says that “Valet parking will still be available” – so I’m assuming you are all referring to people who are trying to park for free.

Thanks for the help!

The resorts mentioned have plenty of parking for guests who are staying at the resort. They do NOT have enough parking to accommodate the people who park in those lots and go to one of the theme parks. Doesn't matter to me if they are doing it to avoid paying for parking or just because it's faster or easier to leave at park closing time. It often means that guests who pay to stay at one of those resorts cannot find a self-parking spot until after the parks close. That's not right.

I do not care about valet parking. Those lots are seldom full and when they do get full, the valets just turn people away or double park in the valet lots. Doesn't impact self parking.

I appreciate all the help. :)

We have never been to WDW and are looking forward to our fist trip in about 2 weeks. I have dining reservations at 2 different Resorts during our stay and would prefer to pay for Valet Parking because of the convenience it will allow my family. In both cases we do plan on visiting the parks before and/or after the reservation – hence my quest for information.

I PROMISE I will use the Valet parking lot in both cases. :)

There is something I have been wondering about this. What if you wanted to eat at the ESPN Club or Beaches & Cream during this time, would you still be allowed to park? I know those two locations don't accept ADR's so you won't be on any list at the guard shack, so what's their policy when guests drive to the Boardwalk and Beach Club and say they want eat there?

At BC, they would probably not let you in. I know 2 or 3 years ago I was staying at BW, had a parking permit, and went to BC to pickup some friends staying there during F & W. The guard gave me a hard time! I just wanted to go in and pick them up at the entrance! I said I will be back out in less than 5 minutes! The guard kept saying over and over "you can't park!". Why would I park there when I'm staying at BW?

one last question on valet parking. is it available 24hrs. if we are coming in very late (after midnight) or will i have to self park

So what was the end result. Were you allowed to pick up your friends or did you have no choice to turn around and leave?

She let us in, reluctantly. I said "our friends are standing there waiting for us!". She said "ok, but you can't park...".

I was trying to remember, I don't think we took them back. I think we went over to SSR to see the BLT model, had dinner there, then went our separate ways.

Absolutely! No one has any issue with those who pay for valet parking.
It is important to note that valet parking, at the BoardWalk, has dedicated space - an additional car in valet parking doesn't "steal" space from BoardWalk self-parking.

Many times you will see signage at the security booths, upon driving up to a resort, that states..'parking for park access is not provided'. Now, that would seem to be pretty clear to me, but others feel differently.
Yes, I agree that that is pretty clear. I think sometimes that some folks choose to view as unclear things that would tend to work against their personal benefit, though, and that causes some of the confusion.

Valet parking isn't an issue. It never has been. It is only the free, self-parking lots that are at issue here.
As long as you pay to valet park, you are free to go anywhere, do anything you wish to do. I have personally spoken to several different resort valet people...they have all told me that it is fine to go to a park for the entire day if you have valet parked.
